Title: Wisdom teeth operation
Post by: Renlor on June 10, 2011, 07:05:50 am
Hey Guys,

I had my two wisdom teeth on the left hand side done today under general.  I was wondering if you have any nice recipes that I can prepare without a lot of fuss and that will be soft enough for me to eat on my right side.  I was thinking a vegie soup on a chicken stock would be nice... has anyone got a nice easy peasy one?  Failing that I'll be eating mash potato  ;)

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Renae :)

Wouldn't any pureed soup be the way to go Renae, pumpkin or potato & leek maybe.  Hope you aren't feeling too bad after the procedure.

Ouch Renoir. Any soup will be ok. Or even just puree what the rest of the family are having. I had my wisdom teeth out years ago and remember looking like a chipmunk for days. Hope it's not too painful for you.

no recipes Renee but get hold of some arnica from the chemist and use it on your face (thick - like a mask!!) I had one tiny little bruise where they had to cut the bone for one of my teeth and some swelling on the first day only.  :)

Hope it works for you too  :)

I agree with Judydawn - I immediately thought of soup, but the baby food option is an ingenious idea.

Ooh feeling  the pain for you.

you can puree nearly all cooked meals. Roast veggies and gravy is good.

Any time of baby food as cc says will go down nicely.

Take care

Hally :)

I can recommend eating whatever through a straw for a few days so you're not having to flush food out of your wounds continuously.

I had mine out gee... 16 years ago now. Wow... They had to dig into my jaw to get them out so I had some rather large pockets where food loved to hide.  Wish I had a thermomix back then! I spent AGES flushing the food out. It was so gross!!

Hope you heal quickly.

mine were taken out in the chair as I was on a bit of a budget. my teeth grew into the jaw and hooked up and had to be cut in half before they could be taken out. I believe "the chair" is still the best way to go to avoid getting "over manipulated" and ending up with a frog face. Not a pleasant experience but is it ever??? Food recommendation for the next day or so....soup, and other soft food according to the size of your injury

Hope you feel better very quickly Renlor - soup would be my choice - however you can make anything in the thermie a consistency that can be consumed through a straw - as some know from early days with our thermies.  :)  :)  :)

I had 3/4 taken out in the chair about 15 years ago.  I was supposed to go back and have the other out some other time.  The dentist said I had had enough for one day, as one of them caused him a bit of bother to get out.  I still have that one wisdom tooth though!  Even though it was the one that started the trouble in the first place!!!  He said that with the one of the other side out, the other teeth might make some room....evidently he was right as I have had no trouble since!

Anyway, I remember eating a lot of yoghurt in the first week or so.  It seemed to be the only thing I felt like!

Thank you all so very much for such awesome ideas!!  I wouldn't have thought of that many  ;)

I managed to make some rice cream...thinking that I wouldn't have to chew...but the bits of rice freaked me out just incase they get stuck.  I have made a couple of iced coffees, vege soup and now some good ole mash potato.  I was even contemplating blitzing a quarter pounder the other night when everyone had maccas hahaha...(gross I know!)  But managed to have a choc thickshake instead.  It's not the pain factor that is annoying me at the moment (the pills are taking care of that)...its the swelling, as I can't bite due to the puffy cheek on the inside of my mouth.  I will have to duck down the chemist and get some arnica cream...hope I haven't left it too late for that, have only just read the post ;)

Thank you all so much xx
