Hi there, need help. I know therecare some instructions in the book but still don't get it. Ant good tips to help me covert some Balinese recipes for you all.
Hally who needs help :)

We would need to see the recipe Hally, just post it as it is and we can go from there. Quirky Jo has some instructions (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/10/converting-recipes-for-thermomix.html) on her blog if you want to check that first.

:D :D If I had a super cape Hally, I'd be joining you on that beach in Bali to get away from our cold weather.

Hally I used to have big problems converting recipes but some time after getting my machine (like 18 months) it sort of becomes second nature. I've just made a new slice and did it in the TMX, then thought I should post the recipe-but I didn't write anything down. :'( I just went by look and sound. :-[

Cookie, Hope it's like that with me, it seems so complicated right now
:)

I know what you mean Hally. Seems a little daunting to take that first step.

I think the easiest thing to do is to try and convert one of your favourite stove top or oven recipes. That way you know what the finished recipe is supposed to look like and how it should taste. You may be able to find something similar on here to guide you through all the steps. If you try to convert a curry for example, there are plenty of examples to follow. Once you have done one either successfully or unsuccessfully, you move onto the next one but never give up and just ask on the forum if you need a bit of guidance. Good luck to you all, you will be so proud of yourself when you do your first conversion.

I have converted a few biscuit, cake and slice recipes my self but have yet to convert a hot meal recipe either. I have had my TM for 6 months and feel I am ready to take the plunge but am really unsure which recipe to convert first. The choices are endless. I guess my biggest concern is working out the cooking times. Will be a bit of trial and error I do think.

Hally, I love converting, and see this as the ultimate challenge of the TMX. It is just so much fun. I always have a pen and paper handy as I tend to forget what I have done. I started with recipes that I had made often, and progressed from there. Some things do not convert well, so you will have to experiment. Have a go and tell us about it .

Cherie also posted this list ... I send this out to my customers when they purchase :)

Just when I think I will convert something I find it on this wonderful forum all done for me!

I have done that before as well bedlam. :D

There seems to be so many recipes to get through on this forum that I really haven't found a recipe that I must have. When I do I'll give it a go then. Until then.........................it's back to plowing through the massive list of recipes I have accumulated from all the lovely members on this forum.

I agree twitter pad, so many recipes but though I would be nice to give back to the forum with some different style recipes :)

IKWYM. After I came back from Thailand this year I had the best intentions of converting some recipes from the cooking class I attended. We cooked about 10-15 dishes amongst the group and I came away with 2 recipe books. Will try to put some time aside to convert and post a recipe. Not in the next week though, I am off to Brisbane. Look out shops, here I come.
