Hi, I received my thermomix a few days ago and have now become dependent upon it. I have a large family, with six kids. This week I also have an exchange student visiting. I wondered if my thermomix would handle the demand and it was doing a great job. I was a very happy camper. did you get the was bit???
Sadly, yesterday morning when I went to make porriage for the crew I found my thermomix would not heat. Not at all. Not even a little bit. I've tried everything (unplugged it, left it for a while, different temperatures, different time periods...)
Now I am a frustrated thermomix groupie. I need HELP!!!
Regards,
Green Kiwi Chick

Hi and welcome greenkiwiichick, sorry it's with a problem and totally understand your dependance (have 5 kids myself ;))
I am going to start with the obvious :) to get heat with your Thermomix you MUST set temp, time and speed. Without all 3 you won't get temp. This is just one of the safety features or the TMX. Even seasoned users (and consultants! :-))) can still fall into that trap when in a hurry.
If you are unsure just do a simple test with about 500g water, set your temp to 100o and your time for 5 min on about speed 1. You should then be able to watch it heat up. It may not get to 100 by the way but you should see the lights come on as it makes it's way towards it.
Keep us informed so we can keep helping you if you need it!! ;)

Hi Kathryn,
Yes, I did all of that, and so did my teenage son, who has becom equally dependent and is good with gadgets.
Thanks for the encouragement though.
Cheers,

oh drats Lee-Ann, I was really hoping it would be so simple for you. Give your consultant a ring NOW (yes even on Sunday!!) well if you are in West Aus maybe not right now lol but if you are on the east or in NZ call her and get it sorted :)
-
LOL. Yes, I did spend all day yesterday trying to track her down. Eventually she called from a holiday on Fraser Island (oops). She will try to help me on Monday. I know I should be patient but I feel I have spent a lot more time waiting than cooking so far. In two and a half days I managed to make pikelets, mushroom risotto, apricot chicken, shepherds pie, berry delight, lemon sherbet, lemonade, bread... . Maybe it decided I was too demanding.

Hope your TMX get fixed quickly! And welcome to the forum Lee-Ann :)
-
TheTMX should be able to handle what you've done and more GWC so try and be patient and all will be fixed. Just a little hiccup that the warranty will fix. Can sympathise with you though - you just want to cook :( :(
-
Hope you get it all sorted quickly GKW. Nothing worse than having a TMX but not able to use it.
-
You poor thing, you have my sympathy. I would be terribly upset. Hopefully it will be fixed very quickly for you.

Hi and Welcome greenkiwigirl, shame your first post was to do with a problem. I hope the problem is fixed soon for you. When you made the porridge did it stick to the bottom of the bowl? or did it just not heat at all? I know when I made porridge the first time I set the speed on soft but the porridge started to stick to the bowl and there fore would not heat at all. When making porridge I think that speen 1 or 2 would be much better. Just check that there isn't a film on the bottom of your bowl as this is enough to stop the TM heating properly. And if this is not the problem then I hope its fixed quickly for you. Like you and Faffa I have a large family as well (5 kids). Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Lee-Ann. I hope you get your TM fixed soon so you can continue on with your cooking. :)
-
Thanks again everyone. I'll update once I've seen my rep lady. I should probably be leaving it alone but I've still been using it for non-cooking jobs.
-
Hope your consultant can help you today. My fingers are crossed for a quick resolution as I can imagine just how disappointed you are.
-
... still no news :(

How frustrating.

THERMIE IS FIXED!!!!
Apparently I had a faulty bowl. They sent me up a new one Tuesday night and it arrived this morning.
I'm so glad I didn't have to send it away and wait for ages. Starting tomorrow I will return to that lovely life I had a sneak peek at.
Thanks to everyone who voiced their support :)
