Post by: passionflower on August 08, 2011, 11:38:11 am
Hello there my name is Monica and I am a new Thermomix addict. I have not seen a demo yet but my best friend is a demo for the in  France so i am familiar with this baby's potential. I am at the stage where I would love to become a demonstrator myself anyone from the UK on here who would like to take me under their wing?
Look forward getting to know you all. Hugs Monica xxx

Hi Monica and welcome to the Forum.   This is a great place to find out more about the wonderful Thermomix.

I live in Sheffield - whereabouts are you?   I've been thinking about becoming a home-based demonstrator (having people come to me rather than me going to them) but haven't yet taken the plunge.   If you are interested in coming and seeing me and my machine, please do let me know,  but it won't be a proper demo.   Or if you just want a chat, send me a message with your phone no. and I can give you a call.

I've had my TMX for just over 2 years and I can honestly say it's one of the best things I've ever bought.  Before I got it, I worried about how much use I would make of it but now I can't imagine being without it.

Im in Sheffield too,and have had my machine about 2 months.............I use my machine at least once a day, and am wasting so little food now .  Id like to say that Im saving money, but sadly so far Im buying so many things to try out!  The curries are to die for,and the sauces are brilliant! Ive not made a lot of soups (what I bought the machine for!), but it is the wrong time of year..........I make a jar or 2 of jam every couple of days at the moment, as our soft fruit ripens, and its no faff at all.........really quick, no huge jam pan to scrub!
My one 'gripe' I suppose that in the uk, there are no classes, extra demos that there seem to be in Australia, and that they dont update their newsletter very often!
Oh......and you wont believe how light the bread is.................

Hi Joolsmicre and passionflower,  welcome to the Forum.  I also love making Jam in the TMX.  Just 4 jars at a time and hardly any mess.   I have been making Lemon and Carrot Marmalade,  but then I am at the other end of the world and it is Winter.  I have been to York and loved it.

Nice to see you again Joolsmicra and glad to hear all is going so well.    I think there are some advanced cookery courses run by TMX UK but they tend to be down south.     We need to campaign for more activity up here - maybe we should plan a get-together for us northerners?

welcome passionflower. I know how you feel about waiting for the TM...whenever I order something online I have to keep checking at the door just in case its there. Here is a shopping list to make sure you have the ingredients to make the vege stock-cubes on P72 of your recipe book:

(your book says ice cube tray with 40 ice compartments (about 1 tablespoon size)
200g parmesan block
200g celery
2 large carrots
1 onion
1 tomato
1 courgette
1 garlic clove
50g fresh mushrooms
1 bay leaf
5g ea of basil, sage & rosemary
20g parsley
30g white wine
olive oil
200g sea salt or rock salt

Hi again Katya!........yup its going brill at the mo! Its been an absolute boon when we were clipping and doing the hay!
I know Coghlans in Chesterfield used to do some classes but dont now due to lack of interest (I think they were £150 tho!!!!!).An owners conference would be brilliant though, if they did a weekend! I might even venture down south for that!

It is Amanda I cannot wait!! I am also off for a fabulous family vacation soon and I want to get something sorted out before I leave, however I am aware that IT IS OUR SUMMER holiday so people might be enjoying sun in other parts of the world  ;D. I am sure I will hear something soon.
AND YES I am trawling the threads I nearly died when I found a recipe for zakusca, I was born in the heart of Transilvania and every summer when the veg were dirt cheap and fresh on the market my grandma and my mum used to can this delicious sauce which we used as a spread during winter months. It is absolutely delicious and I think I will attempt this before the stock when I get my thermie LOL.

hi and welcome monica..im over in France and lovvvvve the thermomix... i hope you get an answer soon...funny as I found the Uk office very helpful (buying books) but maybe the consultant they directed you to is very busy and like you said its summer break well is it in the UK?? yes I think it is..how is it in the UK in summer...i ask as in France as im sure your aware everything shuts down especially businesses unless they are in a tourist region or area  :(  Hope you get an answer and things sorted out before your holiday  :)

We don't have a designated summer holiday break here in the UK Frozzie. Most working people take part of their annual holiday during the summer but everything is open and it's business as usual.School children are on their long summer holiday(six weeks),they return to school usually during the first week of September.

makes sense re businesses being open ..i find its mainly the latin european countries that have summer breaks and everything closes down...so the school holidays are fairly similar except france is 8 weeks and they also go back first week in september!  Thank goodness its nearly over as I find it eternally long and teachers here still complain they dont get enough of a break (seriously arrggh!!)

Why don't you ring the UK Office again passionflower and ask if they know if the consultant is away...   you may get a quicker response than if you use email

I was going to pay for it myself and get the extended plan but he just took his card our and said I will pay for it. ;D
I am sooo very excited, I have my sister and her family arriving tonight so i cannot wait to cook for them all weekend using the thermie.
Off I go to find some nice recipes on the forum. Hugs xxx

Congratulations on getting your machine so quickly and how lovely  of your husband to pay for it.

Good luck with getting started - I'm sure it won't be too long before you become used to cooking the Thermomix way.   Don't forget you can post on here with any queries, however trivial they may seem to you.

hello Passion flower.
Welcome to the gang. I am just an hour down the A1 from Selby just south of Newark. You are very welcome to contact me. I have had several Thermomixes over the last 30+ years. there is a demonstrator in Sheffield called Julia. She was very good at my sisters demo. Call them on ukthermomix.com and they are very good at answering your enquiries.

Hi Monica

Do enjoy! you are in excellent hands with both Katya and Jo. It was Jo who demonstrated at Peter Thompson of York that won my husband and I over (especially the husband).

I am north of you on the A1 (Bedale) and will gladly offer help like other members have (if i can of course). We have had our TMX just short of 2 years now and wouldn't be without it. Love love love the curries - Friday night curry night ALWAYS from the TMX.

Every good wish

Shally  :)
