We are going interstate for about a week from tomorrow morning. Will miss the Forum but will be traveling so will probably not be able to get on line. Bought a book on Japanese Cooking called 'Izakaya". Several recipes suitable for TMX but will have to wait. See you all soon and stay safe and well.
-
Have a lovely trip, stay safe too.

Well I am not missing in action any longer. DH and I have just made a surprise visit to JD and her DH. It was so nice to catch up again. Sorry we couldn't make it to the general morning tea you all enjoyed, but too many other commitments. You talk to a lot of people on the Forum and you feel you know them, then you meet them in person and and you know you were right, it is as if you have been friends all your life. it is amazing that a little machine like the TMX can work such wonders. We have visited the Adelaide Central Market and to those of you who live here there is a wonderful shop that sells a great mix of different grains and flakes. Excellent for bread making. Another busy day tomorrow and then home to Victoria again.
-
What a lovely day we had too Chookie - these are the sort of surprises I like. Your timing was impeccable - last week you would not have found us home on any given day with all we had on. I think we just picked up from the last time we met in Melbourne and it is always lovely to see you and your gorgeous DH. :-* :-*
-
Spent another afternoon with Chookie & DH - invited them to lunch. Just how many hours can females talk about food - as many as you can spare ;) Was nice to be able to serve some desserts I had in the freezer that Chookie hadn't tried herself.
Thanks for the lightening visit Chookie.
-
How lucky for you JD. It's nice to catch up with people that you know that you rarely get to see. Especially so when it's a fellow TMXer. Bet no cooking term was left unturned.
-
No and I now have 3 more websites to browse for recipes too :D :D
-
What websites? Are you going to share?
-
DH and I really benefited from Judy's TMX and freezer. She produced a fantastic meal at short notice and I was able to try many things that I haven't had a chance to make. Could be a good idea for 'get togethers'. That is to each take a different dish. Judy's choice ranges much wider than mine, so is much more interesting. I tend to be more narrow in what I make and didn't realise this until I experienced Judy's cooking. Thank you Judy.
-
You are too humble Chookie - I would just be an apprentice compared to your cooking skills. Glad you enjoyed it though.
Twitterpated, Chookie has an iPad app for Gourmet Traveller but you can find recipes here (http://gourmettraveller.com.au/) on their website.
We also discussed Epicurious (http://www.epicurious.com/) and Fisher Paykel Our Kitchen (http://ourkitchen.fisherpaykel.com/).
None of them TMX of course but obviously there are always recipes to be found to convert.
-
What a lovely surprise for you Judy to have Chookie and her DH for lunch.Don't know if I would have pulled that off at short notice,we would have ended up in the local pub. :D :D
-
What a brilliant weekend you two girls have had! I imagine it was very difficult to separate at the end of the visit.
I'm so happy for you both that you were able to catch up again. :-*
-
So happy for you girls to have caught up and spent a couple of days together ;D ;D ;D ;D..and Judy you need to stop thinking your less than what you are, which is a great cook who is ready to try almost any new recipe and post back ;D I have seen mothers cook rings around some trained professionals and even once a couple of teenagers who were more experienced for their age than most adults (in the kitchen lol)!

Thanks to everyone on the Forum for all the good wishes for our short holiday. It is about 700K from where we live to Adelaide. One stop over night, on the way, but easy driving and a bit warmer in Adelaide than in the hills where we live. I found it really interesting to see someone else using their TMX in a domestic circumstance. Having seen Judy use her machine so efficiently was a real bonus. We certainly learn from each other. Hope other member do get a chance to have a similar experience.
-
What a lovely surprise JD to have Chookie drop in. It is always good with the TM to be able to something that another TM owner hasn't tried.
-
I agree Yvette, if you try it at someone elses place it can then go off your 'to do' list and straight into the 'do again' file.
Thanks for you kind words Frozzie, I have a go but confidence is something I am having to learn as I never had it as a child. I just seemed to get knocks and it stays with you through adulthood. Think I am slowly getting there though and this forum has been a great help in that regard. :-* :-*
-
Judy, I think you are much stronger and way more confident that you realise. Just read the responses to your emails on this forum to know that - not everyone has your empathy, knowledge AND willingness to share. It's not always easy to get beyond the insecurities we had as a child (I am, in fact, fairly shy and have to work at that) but as an adult we are more understanding of these things and can adapt as required - and I would say that you have certainly done that.
Look at all you do and have done and think about how many other people could, or would, do what you have done and are doing .... not that many, I bet.
So, there's my mini-psychology lecture for the day - DON'T UNDER-RATE YOURSELF!!
-
Thank you Denise, guess I need to lecture myself in this regard and forget the past. :-*
-
Definately JD... :-* :-*
-
Judy your a super hero, you just need to put the attitude on, you are able to accomplish anything.
Hugs

:-)) OMG another couple of credits to the TM and this forum - both will give you confidence, and also broaden your circle of friends :-* (bet no other kitchen appliance can boast the same thing ;))
-
Would have been lovely to have been able to catchup with you while you were here Chookie. better luck next time!!!!!
-
JD,you hide your insecurities well. Alway there when anyone needs advice and supporting everyone.
Just hide behind the cape!
-
How amazing would it be to see JD or Chookie in action at home, it would be a one-on-one Masterclass!
It sounds like you both had a lovely catch up, chat and lunch. I think the sun was even shining it Adelaide then.
I have to agree with everyone else, JD you're a legend :)
-
I don't know that I am that insecure these days girls, I think it is just getting used to so many compliments which seem to come my way as I consider myself to be a normal cook, just like the rest of you on here. I think the forum brings out the best in us all and the sharing and caring that goes on here is what helps us achieve so much more than we ever though possible. :-*
-
Judy, how right you are.
-
You are certainly right, Judy, but you do deserve all the compliments you get - you (along with a core group of about a dozen or so other consistent members) are our 'forum mums' - the rocks on which we all rely and without all of you the forum would not be the strong and supportive place it is today.
-
Thanks Marina, love that - 'forum mums'. It's nice to be amongst that group.
