We have had our Thermomix for a week now. We both share the cooking, and are looking forward to cooking up a storm. The condition we bought it was it had to be used every day, but that is posing a bit of a problem. There are only two of us, and the recipes make up at least four serves, so the fridge fills up with leftovers. We made three courses for dinner tonight, potato and leek soup, apricot chicken risotto, and strawberry ice cream with yoghurt we made and froze a few days ago. A batch of butter biscuits and the leftovers will last us for the weekend. We will have to go out for dinner Saturday, as one thing it won't do is a schnitzel and chips.

Hi and Welcome Gail and Mark..there are others here who are only two and one of the most common things they do is just cut the recipe in half if your not wanting to always have leftovers or like more variety...or you could also freeze the portions you dont eat for a later meal when your in a hurry  :)

Hi Gail & Mark, welcome to the forum.  Yes, if you can it is best to halve recipes if you want to cook more.  I often only have to cook 3 meals a week if I do full versions which is fine if you have a busy week but if not, then I prefer to make the smaller quantities as there are so many recipes on my 'to do' list.  Sounds like you are doing well though, keep it up.

Hi to you both. Welcome to the forum. You'll find many others here that are cooking for two and they will have heaps of hints for you on how they do it. There are also many recipes on this forum which are aimed at cooking for two as well. Be sure to post any questions that you have and I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

Welcome to the forum Gail and Mark. 

I am also in a house of two and usually cook the full recipe quantity and freeze the extras as often I simply don't have time to cook at nights and it is good to know that there is something sitting in the freezer waiting to be used.  Using the TMX daily is great and certainly the way to go, but it doesn't have to be 'meals', it can be smoothies, bread, LSA, biscuits, cakes, .... and so the list goes on.  You will settle down (one day) with your TMX and know what you need to cook to stock up the freezer / pantry / biscuit tin, etc. on any one day.  At first it is hard to control yourself and that's great, too.  Just keep on enjoying yourselves and your new kitchen whizz and everything will fall nicely into place as time goes by.

I must say, i have no problem using it daily, my problem is leaving it alone. We haven't eaten this well ever and unfortunately it is starting to show. It is all good food though. Love it.

If using it every day is what you're after - why not try using it to juice fresh fruit.  It makes the best juice from the whole fruit so you are adding to your fruit intake, but not your waist!

Snap! We've only had ours two days and are already talking about getting a bigger freezer to accommodate all the beautiful leftovers and still allow us to purchase our meat in bulk. I'm pleased to hear the initial mania settles down a little in time though 'cos I'm certainly producing more than we're eating!
