Found this recipe in Gourmet Traveller and have fiddled with different spirits and juice quantities for the past 5 nights until I got it just right :P :P I tried Tequila & Gin but settled for Malibu. What a great experiment ;D ;D
Best to prepare yourself in advance with the following steps so that you can be ready to go at the drop of a hat if visitors pop in.
Firstly, make the honeysuckle syrup by placing 110g honey & 110g water in the TM bowl and cooking for 3 mins/80o/speed 1. Pour into a jug or bottle and allow to cool. I just keep it in the pantry. You can make as much as you want using equal quantities of honey and water but the above quantity would make 5-6 drinks.
Juice some oranges and lemons - freeze the juice in ice-cube trays - do a whole tray of each.
Now, prepare your cocktail using these weights for each person. I was only making 1 glass at a time in my trials so adjust times if making a bigger batch.
25mls honeysuckle syrup
5 cubes ice
30 g lemon cubes
30 g orange cubes
35-40 g Malibu
Blitz for 45 - 60 seconds on speed 8.
If you are making for a crowd and the bowl is pretty full, use the spatula to assist.

Oh dear JD - I am not an alcohol drinker at the best of times, but the last couple of cocktails have got to me. Roll on summer I say (hic) :o :o
-
Judy, you'r at it again. I am waiting for the warm weather to see what you come up with. Keep experimenting.

JD all those failures until you tweaked the recipe just made you plug on night after night - what a trooper :D
do you get honeysuckly syrup from the supermarket?
-
No, it is in the recipe CP - equal quantities of honey & water made in the TMX and kept specifically for this drink.

"d better juice & freeze a few of my oranges and limes for this summer cocktail ;D Thanks :-* :-*
How was the tequila version Judy (I find Malibu a bit sweet...)?
-
I didn't like it at all Carine (but I did drink it :P) so if you like something less sweet, perhaps you would like it. The beauty of this recipe is that it doesn't cost much to try anything as it is only 1 spirit being used at a time unlike a lot of cocktails that use multiple spirits. The recipe said you could use any spirit, I didn't get around to trying vodka as I had decided Malibu was my preferred option.

This sounds great. I might need to start stocking up on spirits when I travel.
-
pity we arent having much of a summer but might have to try anyway..thanks JD...i have a girlfriend who would love this :)

Having friends over for drinks on the weekend. This will be perfect! Thanks for posting JD. Looking forward to many more drinks from you. Hope you enjoyed the experiment.

How can you not Twitterpated. These cocktails are my personal reward for my day's work ;) Would go down better if I was sitting around a pool in a tropical resort and some gorgeous hunk was serving me drinks but.......
