Title: Honeysuckle Daiquiri
Post by: judydawn on August 23, 2011, 01:01:49 pm
Found this recipe in Gourmet Traveller and have fiddled with different spirits and juice quantities for the past 5 nights until I got it just right  :P :P I tried Tequila & Gin but settled for Malibu. What a great experiment  ;D ;D

Best to prepare yourself in advance with the following steps so that you can be ready to go at the drop of a hat if visitors pop in.

Firstly, make the honeysuckle syrup by placing 110g honey & 110g water in the TM bowl and cooking for 3 mins/80o/speed 1.  Pour into a jug or bottle and allow to cool.  I just keep it in the pantry.  You can make as much as you want using equal quantities of honey and water but the above quantity would make 5-6 drinks.

Juice some oranges and lemons - freeze the juice in ice-cube trays - do a whole tray of each.

Now, prepare your cocktail using these weights for each person. I was only making 1 glass at a time in my trials so adjust times if making a bigger batch.

25mls honeysuckle syrup
5 cubes ice
30 g lemon cubes
30 g  orange cubes
35-40 g Malibu

Blitz for 45 - 60 seconds on speed 8.
If you are making for a crowd and the bowl is pretty full, use the spatula to assist.

No, it is in the recipe CP - equal quantities of honey & water made in the TMX and kept specifically for this drink.

I didn't like it at all Carine (but I did drink it :P) so if you like something less sweet, perhaps you would like it.  The beauty of this recipe is that it doesn't cost much to try anything as it is only 1 spirit being used at a time unlike a lot of cocktails that use multiple spirits.  The recipe said you could use any spirit, I didn't get around to trying vodka as I had decided Malibu was my preferred option.

This sounds great. I might need to start stocking up on spirits when I travel.
