Hally, are you going to buy a jug and a set of spoons, so if you ever come across a recipe from the US you will have the right measurements?   ;D

Great location Hally if you have an ocean front room you will be able to almost roll out of bed onto the beach - not if you are on the 20th floor though, however it is in the middle of everything which is a bonus and the infinity pool is something else although you may have the same lounge issue as in Bali  :)  :)

I am wondering f you can tip the staff for sun lounges, thats what people were dong in Bali, found that out and was oppsed to it, but if we want a day by te pool t coud be worth it. Hsve to see how it pans out.

Talking of tipping, whats the go out there. Do we tip everyone!!!

Tipping is a definite yes Hally - as Aussies we have some difficulty understanding the need but whether we like to acknowledge it our not our wages are so high compared to US.  But in saying that we have never tipped if the service was not up to standard or above.  :)  :)

Yes, thank you fundj - please update as and when progress is made.  What is that white rock on site?  So, your plan is to live part of the year in Bali and Australia - you must love it over there to set up permanent/semi-permanent roots.

aussie wages are higher than most countries..even though DH is on good money he would be earning alot more for the same job in oz plus everything is so expensive here   :(

in my suburb you cant buy a 3 bedroom home  for under 1.2 million and most people knock it down and start again, its crazy.

Yes really ...wasnt really talking réal astate though just cost of living in general but you can Bardot get an appartement for that in Paris outskirts.. Plus the size of houses are a hell of a lot smaller... We are considèred to have a décent size House and we just fit a double bed in it not to mention the rest of it which is why it throws me when people Côme and say oh your place is spacieux lol throws me every time

I lové when we go back to oz always a shopping spree... Nô way even on spécial clothes are that cheap here so tes have to say aussies really dont réalise how good Life is down under  :)

Maybe they had help from the Italian community already here fundj then set about working very hard to get ahead and make a success of their lives.  That was generally the case with Italian immigrants - they were great workers and bought so many skills to this country.

Frozzie each time we travel OS we love the wonders of discovering the beauty and uniqueness of each country, but we do realise how fortunate we are living in Oz.  That being said I would travel in a heartbeat to visit friends across the globe!!!!!  :)  :)

sorry i typed that message on my iphone while waiting in the docs office this morning.. lol bardot = budget..just fit a double bed in our bedroom which is also most hotel rooms even luxurious ones lol  (I miss open plan spacious houses with decent sized rooms lol)....i love the lifestyle here and the culture but customer service sucks, price fixing is everywhere so forget finding a bargain and im so sick of paying so much for nothing....ive not come across anywhere in the world that beats quality of life vs cost of living like it is in oz but love being so close to so many countries and love love travelling....

and robyn anytime your over this way you will have to stop by!!

fundj ...i admire people like your parents going so far away to start a new life...I did it by myself but thankfully we live in a world where we have internet and webcams etc to keep in touch these days and even that is hard....nothing beats face to face, hugs and kisses etc...smells, all the little things from home that you grew up with and most people take for granted...still new experiences and a life most people dont get to experience...have to look at the positives not jsut the negatives  :) :)

:) Frozzie, you have to go overseas first just to appreciate how good Australia is.

I remember going overseas first time at 15, but to fly home, looking at the reef, mountains, it was good to be home.

I love this forum so much. Deep and meaningful, anytime.  ;D
I also love shopping, off to buy a sofa bed, for our shop.

very true...DH loves oz...there are many lovely things about europe dont get me wrong but growing up in oz and travelling alot I soon learnt to appreciate (even more so since living here) that life in oz is pretty damn good...the food could improve a bit though..too much hormone pumped, geneticallymodified produce in my opinon and not as many good restaurants as france (also imo) ..there are great food and chefs everywhere here jsut a huge part of the culture but for quality of life, ie size of homes, cars, roads, salaries (much higher for the same job in oz) and so much more not to mention just general space ...you cant beat it plus there is something about aussies in general...very friendly and down to earth compared to people here...i love our friends but there are so many walls in French culture and europe in general..sometimes its incredibly frustrating..

I have to watch myself as I often complain about the house not being bigt enough (even though by French standards its quite spacious), things being so expensive and then not always well done or made and and and...poor DH sometimes thinks he married a spoilt little brat I imagine but trust me every country has alot to offer but the cost of living for the quality of life available in oz I havent seen it anywhere else yet..you just cant beat it!  Saying that there are many things I would miss about living in France but it wouldnt be the climate or lack of space!  The transition is alot easier going from europe to oz than vice versa...ahh the things we do for love!  ;D
