Title: Thanks to the very lovely Quirky Jo!
Post by: Amanda on October 30, 2011, 11:41:58 pm
Last week I had some very nasty, harrowing dental surgery and without Jo and her brilliant recipes I would have been pretty hungry.  A few TM bowls full of her concoctions of nuts, fruit and greens have kept me nourished and satisfied for the last few days and for that and her thoughtful concern I just wanted to publicly thank her very much!
You are a treasure Jo!  :-* :-* :-*

I also rely heavily on a daily basis on Jo and her recipes.  She is such a boon to this forum.  Thanks, Jo, for your openness, support and ideas - you've really been a huge help to me, especially recently since I have had to start finding lactose free recipes.

A recipe book from Jo would be a best seller. We have suggested that to her before - wonder if one is in the pipeline  ;)

I think it is worse. :'( :'( I can have skin cancers removed etc etc and don't need pain relief. But fool around with my mouth and I need tons of it and I'm scared and a wimp.

Gee I hope you recover quickly back to normal Amanda. Sounds like a horrible experience. Just the work dentist sends shivers down my spine.

I'm a tough old tart and can (and have) handle just about anything - except the dentist.
Then I turn into a pathetic, weak creature.  Thank heavens for drugs.  :-))

wish you a speedy recovery amanda  :)

and yes dental pain is horrid..i cant stand going to the dentist and shiver even at that noise the cleaning tools make..yet alone actual work lol.thankfully the most i have had done was my wisdom teeth out and for that they knocked me out in surgery- in a privte hospital..big baby but i was only young  :D

however regarding the comment re labour pain well that would depend on the labour ..i had a very normal and easy birth with DD but with DS that was and still is one of the most excrutiating experiences of my life so like i said would depend on personal experience and i spent months in agnosing pain with an illness that no drug seemed to calm down..couldnt walk, wash myself, eat or sleep very little for weeks on end (however great for losing weight haha not so great for well being though)..anyway not even that came close...like anything i guess great if you have drugs and they actually work but really not so great when they dont and everything goes haywire!!

Jo is one amazing cook.I always read her blog to see what recipes she has been developing in her kitchen.I think people would love to have her as their consultant.
I hope you get better soon Amanda. The worst time in my life was when I had an abscess on my tooth and couldn't eat or sleep.I have never experienced pain like that before.

Very speedy healing to you Amanda!  :-* I went to the dentist last week and was worried but to my relief got a clean bill of health on my teeth (after a lack of dentist appointments for the last 5 years...oops).  But I do understand the pain after heaps of work in my teens.  :-[ :-[

Jo's blog and recipes have really changed the way I cook and feed my family... so versatile, delicious and simplistic to make!  Just love her work! :) :)

Hmmmm. What an interesting thread.  I've been sitting here debating whether giving birth to a big bub with a really large head circumference was worse than having my four wisdom teeth snapped off my jaw before they came through and then suffering a massive post-op infection. Both were so horribly painful I think it is a dead-heat!

On a brighter note I am glad your drugs are working Amanda and hope that you are back on deck soon.

I really agree that Quirky Jo should write a book.  Come on Jo!!!  ;D

Poor you Chelsea, you survived both though so hopefully there will never be anything that painful again.  :-*

Amanda, hope each day is a little less painless for you and the family are helping out as much as possible.  :-*
