Hiya, I've noticed some recipes say to drop food (eg garlic, apple etc) onto running blades... I place it in the bowl and then process it. What does dropping on blades do? Is it to prevent it getting caught under the blades? Just wondering how important this step is... Thanks

This process was often used for the Tm21 it will give you a slightly finer chop. Shouldn't really make a huge difference for the Tm 31

I only use the dropping on the blade method for small items like garlic and ginger Kulsha as they chop quicker and more evenly. The first I heard of this method was when I came across some recipes from the UK Thermomix website and then later when I bought their equivalent of our EDC and found it works well for smaller items.

I have also started dropping my onion, ginger and garlic onto the blades as I feel it gives a better cut.

I also find it is more even in size.
