Hi,
A bit about me to start - I'm Snappy and I'm from Sydney. I've got two little boys and I work so things can get pretty hectic around here.
I purchased my thermomix on Tuesday and I am now eagerly awaiting its arrival. I've been lurking around the forums for a while so I've picked up plenty of tips and recipes. I'm baking addict (not great for the weight) and I've been thinking about all the wonderful recipes that I want to convert - Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Scrolls are first on my list - they are little bites of heaven.
I've also managed to get In the Mix recipe book so I'm going to have a thorough look over that tonight because I'm trying to decide what will be the first things cooking in my new little friend! Tenina's Umami paste is probably #1, some blueberry jam maybe? And once I get a little bit of experience I am jumping straight into cultured butter - so delicious and having a thermomix means I am going to be able to make my own! And of course lots of snacks for the boys - rock cakes, oatmeal cookies etc.
And in my forum lurking I understand there was a recipe for Pretzels in last year's Festive Flair booklet - I have found the review but not the recipe - would anyone be able to point me in the direction of this recipe?
-
hi and welcome you do sound ready to go full steam ahead. you will find that most recipes from books will not be on the forum only the tweaks and the reviews can be found,
forum members please correct me if i'm wrong

Welcome to the group, its the greatest place for recipies,
I love the Pioneer Womans Cinnamon Scrolls, the Thermomix will only do half her quanity at a time, they were one of my first things too!

Hiya, welcome aboard
you will find that most recipes from books will not be on the forum
Except when they are, I've never quite understood why some do get posted and some don't (say like the Chicken in Yoghurt from the Indian Cookbook, or the Butter Chicken & Tikka Paste recipes also from the Indian cookbook)
-
I did realize that the Tikka Paste recipe was on the forum ,thanks tarasis

I'm so keen I've even been shopping for supplies today - want to make sure I have everything I need when my thermie arrives:
flexible spatula (not for using when blades are running)
silicon muffin cups
a glass jar for umami paste
a gorgeous butter container
When I can work out how to attach images I will put up some pictures of my finds!

It's this forum! I keep finding out about things that I *need* to go with the thermomix - I hear a vacuum sealer is the perfect partner!
-
They certainly are handy Snappy.
-
I'm going to pretend I didn't read that about the vac sealer.. *whistles* (I can see how they would be handy)
-
Hi snappy and welcome to the forum, at least being on here for as long as you wish does not cost but our dear you should see our shopping trolleys as a result of the sharing of forum members purchases or suggestions!!!!!
-
Thank god Christmas is fas approaching and a can put together a Wish List full of thermie needs LOL.
-
Welcome on the forum! I hope your Thermomix will arrive soon. Although the anticipation is nice as well, reading about it, butterflies in your stomach, buying all sorts of new things!
The contents of my kitchen cupboard have completely changed since I've had my Thermomix. New kinds of sugar, caster sugar in the bin and replaced by raw sugar, new spices with names I had never even heard of before.....glass jars for chutney, jam, ketchup. All sorts of flour......I still love it!! New cookbooks, cooking magazines.....I-pad for reading cooking blogs and cooking recipes. The Thermomix allows you to cook cheap and cheerful, but unfortunately I spend the money I save from cooking with the Thermomix on all sorts of other stuff........
Enjoy!!! Let us know how your first cooked meals turn out!! 8)

Aaaahh,
I've just heard from consultant that Melbourne has dispatched my Thermie but she is away until Tuesday next week - It means I can't get it until Wednesday night :(
Oh well, I guess it's another weekend of shopping for "accessories". Maybe a hunt to find one of those faux thermoservers they call Hot Pots ......

Welcome snappy. How ghastly having to wait the extra time for your machine. You will find it invaluable at Christmas.
