Well Christmas is less than one month away :-))
I thought I would start preparing my Christmas Day menu and thought I would get a few ideas from other members.
What are you planning to cook in your TMX for Christmas?

Christmas at my house this year, so basically as much as I can in the thermomix.

We are going to DD2's for lunch this year so very little going on around here. Obviously I will get a ham and perhaps cook a turkey roll so that we have some cold meat on hand for what will probably be much warmer weather than we are having at the moment. It wouldn't seem like Christmas if I didn't have ham and turkey in the fridge and I can share whatever I do with my Mum.

Christmas this year will be spent at my parents (about ½ hr away). So far I am planning to cook the following
JudyDawns French Onion Dip
Achookwomans Savoury Flat Bread
JudyDawns Noodle and Cheese Slice
Teninas White Chocolate Minty Truffles
I Love Bimbys Tangy Seafood Salad
Once I receive Teninas Dinner Spinner I am sure I will be adding to the list LOL.

We fly to Melbourne boxing day, so of course I dint Want too much food left.
Breakfast will be
Leg ham & eggs
Home made bread, toasted
Coffee & champagne
Turkey, my fav with traditional English stuffing
Ham on the bone
Crispy potatoes
Some salads
Cheese & dips &
JD's crackers & chookies flatbreads
Christmas pudding & brandy butter

I am the Christmas pudding maker amongs my family since my grandmother passed away several years ago. I still use her recipe and everyone loves it. This year will be my first Christmas with TM so I am sure some of the preparation will be done with the TM. I also cook the chicken ( cause I am the only one who is not keen on ham and turkey) we are all at my parents place for Christmas this year and everyone brings something. There is usually quiet a few of us for Christmas lunch and dinner.

Hally that was the reason why Christmas arrived earlier than usual at our place - I am taking thermie with us to Ayr, how frustrating slaving over a hot stove making the custard, brandy sauce, hollandaise etc, etc with a thermie 7 hrs away doing nothing :) :)

i am sure you will bring something along................fudge maybe :-))
just to let you know i sent the cookies and cream fudge for the office ladys that DH works with, i have received two emails thanking me, they say it was the best ever fudge ;D

Because there's just the two of us we don't really do anything special for Xmas - I'm just looking forward to having loads of free time to cook everything I have been promising myself I'm going to cook during the year but never had time or didn't get around to it. I'm planning for my freezer to be bulging at the seams by the time I've finished!

It was only going to be three of us for Christmas, DH, Me and eldest DSon. But my DD's SIL (few there's a lot of initials there!) has kindly invited us to Christmas lunch!
If it's hot we hope they'll come back here for a swim and a seafood BBQ tea.

Thai Fish Patties with Sweet Chilli and Lime Sauce
Fish Parcels - just thick fish fillets topped with butter, wine & lemon pepper wrapped in foil and cooked on BBQ
Broccoli Salad
Beetroot Salad from the EDC
Brown Rice Salad
Caesar Pasta Salad
Not sure what sort of potatoes to have.

This is my first christmas with a tmx and I don't really think it will get used much at all.
As a Tasmanian and from a family that thinks its not christmas unless its a whole roast turkey and ham off the bone, plus lots of desserts, our meal is always a hot one (even though I would love to just have seafood and salad I think my grandmother wouldn't agree).
This is our basic menu:
Dips/crackers - not sure what yet??
Cold seafood platter, plus oysters kilpatrick usually.
Roast Turkey/cranberry sauce /gravy
Ham
Potatoes (not sure what yet but usually new boiled and roasted)
Steamed veges + a garden salad or coleslaw
Christmas Pudding
Summer Pudding
Usually a tirimasu or something similar
Maybe a mousse - I saw a yummy strawberry one on the forum but maybe chocolate mousse because of the summer pudding.
Drinks ?
Any advice appreciated.
Also I've never made Gravy in the tmx, actually I havn't made it since last xmas. is there a good recipe for gravy that doesn't use meat juices or could use water from a turkey????

Well I normally go home to my parents in SA but this year that is not going to happen... :'( so I am cooking xmas dinner here for 5 of us.... we will have ... roast pork, roast turkey ( roll ) and ham, roast potatoes and pumpkin, steamed carrots,broccoli, peas and cauliflower with a cheese sauce. :) I always make my nana's flourless, sugarless, eggless and dairy free steamed pudding... we have had it for xmas all of my life and we love it.... served with brandy cream and icecream... :) :)
I will have the usual treats on the table... nuts and cherries and some slices and other sweet treats ... so all I can see so far is the Thermomix will be used for the cheese sauce... oh and a constant supply of lemonade.... :) :) I could use it to make the icecream a few days in advance but I don't have an icecream maker to do the churning ??? Do I need one or can someone point me in the direction of a recipe for icecream made totally in the Thermomix... thanks :)

babyw, there are things there that could be done in the TMX. Dips, cranberry sauce from scratch, gravy, you could steam the potatoes early ready for baking, steam the vegies (guess it depends how many people you are feeding though), coleslaw, mousse & drinks. I love the lemonade or strawberry lemonade, fresh fruit daiquiri, frozen illusion cocktail and The blushing buck gin cocktail all on the forum under drinks. There are gravy recipes on the forum but I am having to use my slow, old computer at the moment whilst my good one is in being diagnosed with some sort of problem so it would take me forever to search on this one.
Colleen, your vegies for 5 could easily be steamed in the varoma dish, tray and steaming basket before you make the cheese sauce - just pop them into oven to keep them warm if you haven't got plenty of food thermoses.
The best ice-cream made in the TMX is the Salted caramel maple ice-cream - it is so easy to spoon out too with the addition of the salt.

I love the lemonade idea - great suggestion for the designated drivers!
I'm on desserts this year and normally I make a cheesecake, a pavlova and something chocolate. I'll be looking through the dessert section on this forum later to see if I can find any ideas for cooking desserts in in the TMX

We made the iced lemon lime and bitters tea from last years ww Christmas special at Xmas last year was enjoyed by everyone,very refreshing and not too bubbly.

Thanks JudyDawn. Yes I will definately do the dips, but hadn't thought of the cranberry or the drinks. I love the sound of all of those drinks (and reckon that grandad's times by 3 would too!) I think we will have too many people (10 adults + kids) to steam all the veges in the varoma but maybesome things. This forum is great for the quick and useful replies!
I will definately be searching for Gravy recipes, because I like a nice gravy on turkey as it can sometimes be a bit dry cooking a whole turkey. If anyone else has a good one please post it.

Bedlam that drink sounds lovely. I wont ask you, but i would love to make some, anyone ave rhe recipe.

There will be 4 of us for lunch and possibly 3 or 5 for dinner. We always have a cold lunch and dinner. I haven't yet thought of specifics but it will be something like:
Dips with crudites and chookie's crackers
Cold turkey breast that I will roast and stuff with probably a cranberry type filling.
Roast rolled pork
Terrine from last years Festive book with a few changes
Smoked salmon
Salads including beetroot from the EDC and a couple from here
Layered salad, tomato and bocconini salad. spinach and beetroot salad with balsmaic dressing
Mayonnaise made in TMX on salads
Possibly some cute little bread rolls
Sweets will be possibly Tenina's Pecan Dacquoise (?) for lunch and fruit salad and trifle for dinner.
Fruit mince pies and Christmas panettone later in the day
This is a mix of tradition and new. I'll probably change it several times before Christmas Day.
I do all the preparation on Christmas eve and then do nothing on Christmas Day.

There will only be 2 of us this year as DD is going to spend Christmas with her father. As I am a vegetarian, I don't see the point in buying a turkey for 1 so we are still undecided. We tend to be quite unconventional in our choice of Christmas food as we rarely eat puddings, cakes etc.

I would love this recipe too!
