Title: Boiling quails eggs
Post by: ros on December 03, 2011, 12:26:55 pm
Having just tried tm for boiling eggs both soft and hard boiled and am amazed at the results.  Accurate and exceptionally easy to peel". Now I want to try the same with quails eggs.  Has anyone got accurate timings?

Ros perhaps if you tied weighing a hen's egg and then weighing a quails egg and work out the ratio and then applying it to the cooking times.
Hopefully someone will be more help.

Cant equate weight of hens egg to quails, so have experimented.
I put 12 quails eggs in the tm basket with500g water. Cooked them vapona for 10 minutes and were perfect. Also easier to shell than normal as the shells go brittle with the steaming.

For Xmas I am going to Ido scotch eggs but with quails eggs and so will only cook them for 9 minutes as I will recook them in the oven once they have their sausage eat coating!

Do try them  they are lovely and look dinky served with aperitifs, smoked salmon etc

sorry just saw this..ok they are quite popular over here but havent done them i the thermie myself however on the french forum this is how one user does them well for 12 of them as they were for an aperitif/verrine with avocado and something..

Put 1L of water in the bowl and program 8mins/varoma/speed 1.  Put the eggs in the basket but not in the bowl yet.  at the beep, put the basket into the bowl and program another 8mins/varoma/speed 1.  At the beep, allow the eggs to cool then deshell them.

voila..hope this helps..i havent looked in my french thermie cookbooks but will try and do today to see if there is something else more specific like there is for chook or duck eggs

Just had some quail eggs which I wanted to hard boil, but had no idea how long they'd need.  I thought, I'm sure my Forum Friends won't let me down, someone will have posted about this - and you had  :) :-* :-*  Thank you.

Love my slow cooked thermomix chicken eggs with asparagus "soldiers for dipping, but I think I need to buy some quail now.
