Title: Hi fellow thermies
Post by: Montoya on December 14, 2011, 12:41:16 am
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this club! Just bought a thermomix and still waiting to receive it. Hopefully before Christmas. ;)
Can't wait. What should I cook first?

i'd actually make the dishes in the demo because, firstly, you've seen them made, secondly, because they cover a lot of the functions of the tm and thirdly, the stock concentrate so you can make all the other things in the edc which ask for it.  if you do the demo dishes, you should have some idea of how they should turn out and it would be easier to pinpoint where you have to refine things if necessary.
i'm sure the others will share their opinions; ultimately, the world's your oyster.

Welcome to the forum. I'd make the vegetable stock paste. Have a good look through the forum and select a couple of recipes that you know you will like and give those a try. Don't forget to check all the helpful hints and variations people do to them.

Welcome to the forum Montoya ,good tip cookie. i never read the whole thread when there is more  than 3 to 4 pages, some times its a big mistake. we should have a set random word on a posts that any been changed or  tweaked so we can search it.
do you know what i mean.

Montoya, I think it is worth the extra time to read the whole thread.  These comment are from people who have made this dish.  You can learn a lot from others tweaks.

Ok thanks so much guys. Is the veggie stock recipe in the initial cookbook you receive? I don't think it will be part of my demo. :D

I just found an awesome website...Cooking with Janie...on YouTube. She explains how to use the  *: very well and it seems so easy. Can't wait to try the lemon flan!

Janie Turner is a lovely lady, I love watching and listening to her when she is demonstrating the TMX.  I took myself off to the back room along with my UK DVD when I received it, told DH I was not taking calls until it was finished, poured myself a glass of wine and spent some time with Janie.  She has a lovely soothing voice which sort of mesmerises me.

Montoya,  here's a link for a question like yours.

Welcome to the forum Montoya.
Janie Turner is a lovely lady.I've attend some of her cookery workshops but unfortunately she doesn't run them now as other business  opportunities have opened up for her and her lovely DH John Turner.

Welcome Montoya,
I'm new to Thermomix and the forum too. I only just had my thermomix delivered this week.
When my demonstrator delivered it to me, she washed it up and then we made custard together and soup.
She left me cooking the basic stock so I could go on from there.
Hope you get your thermomix soon.

Thanks mcmich! I would love to make the stock and a soup first. My thermomix should hopefully come before Christmas although I know they are really busy due to the no interest offer. I had my demo last night. Thrilled with the thermo warmer and vegetable cookbook I will receive. My friends were really impressed and 2 said they would buy it at a later stage.
