Title: Tuna Mornay Pasta question
Post by: RPG33 on January 04, 2012, 03:12:03 am
Hi Everyone

I hope I'm posting in the right place, I'm new to the forum and have a question about a dish I made in my Thermomix last night.

I was looking for a nice Tuna Mornay type dish and I've made enough dishes from the EDC to understand that this forum is going to be my bible instead ;)  I found this recipe - http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3750.0   It was absolutely DELICIOUS so many thanks for the recipe, but I think I had a problem with the pasta.

I tweaked the recipe a bit as I didn't have all the ingredients and was making it for my toddler.  I added half a cup of frozen peas, but omitted shallots.  I also left out the wine but added the 75g in extra water instead.  I did include the optional small can of corn.  Lastly, I used small spiral pasta instead of penne.  Aside from those things, I followed the recipe to the letter.

The pasta wasn't cooked by time the dish was ready, so I kept cooking for another 3 minutes (checking each minute).  By the time it was ready, it was PERFECT at the very top of the TM bowl, but from just under that to the very bottom the pasta had basically disintegrated.  It didn't matter and was delicious regardless (and not gluggy at all) but I am just wondering if there are any obvious ways I could have gone wrong?  The TM bowl was full to the brim when I had finished adding the ingredients, and I'm thinking that there was just too much in there.

Any ideas??

Thank you  :)  :)

Exactly what I was going to ask Uni, it seems to be the only thing I can come up with too.
There is another tuna/pasta recipe here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2111.0) RPG33.

Thank you so much for the replies!!  Yes, was definitely on reverse.  I triple check that each time I need to use it.  And there was heaps of other things that were still in their shape (eg large chunks of tuna) etc.  I'll try it again as the taste was fantastic and I'll use penne the next time as the recipe suggests...

Thanks for the other recipe - looks great, I'll try that too!!

RPG33, try mixing everything with a spatula once the pasta etc goes into the bowl. This may help get it started.

Good idea - I'll definitely do that.  Thanks again for the tips everyone.

I'm going to try the EDC Beef Strog tonight, however I've found lots of tweaks on this forum so will incorporate them also.

Thanks again  :)
