Title: My post it note solution!
Post by: Ceejay on January 07, 2012, 12:07:50 am
As per Thermomixblogger's admission about the post it notes last year... I was a serial recipe post it noter in the kitchen.   :P
The splashback was covered with tiny multicoloured post its with regularly used recipes on them.  They'd stay until they fell off and I redid them!  ???

However, I came up with a much better solution using A5 laminator pouches and a shower curtain ring! They are double sided and loop around for ease of selection!  :-))  And yes, they work... now the kids have no excuses for not cooking!  ;)

I promised to put photos up (yes, I'm slack... I know.  :-[)... but TA DAH!  Here they are finally.  8)

You've been busy Ceejay.  That gives me an idea for Dinner Spinner - might be easier to access the cards  ;)
How many of the kids have a dabble with the TMX?

I have an A4 plastic expanding file thingy which has about 10 or 12 dividers in it.  I print off any recipe that I want to try at some time, add any alterations, tips, pictures etc., and laminate them.  They then get popped into the expanding file thingy under their relevant category.  I have made up an updatable index in the front of it in case I loose something, or don't know what I want for dinner.  When I choose a recipe, I clip it onto a handy little clipboard with a folding leg (which DH just wizzed up for me).  It then sits happily on the breakfast bar while I make my recipe up.  You can see the plastic clipboard in action here.

It works well with Dinner Spinner - love the idea.  Thanks Ceejay.  I was lucky enough to find an O-ring here which completely opened and was therefore so easy to pop the cards on and close it up again.

Thanks everyone... this has been floating around my kitchen for around 4 or 5 months now...  I've just been too busy to take photos!  :D :D  They've been quite a hit here.  8)  I'm thinking I need to split it into two as the favourite recipes (of the kids) grow.  One for savoury, one for sweet!  ;)

So far JD, we have 5 of them using it confidently.  Plus the youngest one at 4, who is chief "TMX turner offerer". :D

Glad it worked JD!  I use a shower curtain ring as it's so light!   :P

That is indeed a great Idea Ceejay.
Not long after I joined the forum in Nov 2009, I also posted about how much I use the shower curtain rings for this purpose, as well as for organizing little things that tend to disappear in drawers, in the smaller Zip Lock baggies. as quite a few can be fitted on one ring.  Especially little things that have sharp teeth that when stored in a drawer, inevitably "find" your fingers with the sharp bits when you are digging for other things. - for me it is usually under a fingernail.

It was in this post. (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2308.15)

I also have things that I want to keep dust-free so I don't have to rinse them before use in these baggies, thermometers are grouped together as I have several.

And here are a couple of the "toothy things" baggies.
