Title: Rattling internal steaming bowl
Post by: JuliaBalbilla on January 14, 2012, 04:52:39 pm
Hi

Just a quick question.  Does anyone know why my internal steaming basket should rattle when in use?  It makes an annoying knocking sound for a while then eventually calms down, but I wonder if I am doing something wrong.  Thanks

JB

I was going to suggest that maybe your blades are hitting the bottom of the basket but the noise would continue all the time.I would give Thermomix UK HO a ring and see what they say JB :)

Mine does that too, but after a few minutes calms down.  Was thinking the boiling action might lift the steamer or position it better so that why the noise stops.  Have you heard the sound if you accidentally leave the butterfly in on speed 10?!!

I think the noise is only because the steaming basket hasn't settled into place.  Do you line the groove part of the steaming basket up with the raised strip on the left hand side of the TM bowl?  That seems to be the place it likes to sit for me.

JD I didn't know there was a special place for the basket, I just put it in so that must be the answer.

Uni it scared the living daylights out of me, but those butterflies are built to last, hardly a nick on it.

Thank you for all your replies.  I didn't realise there was a special position for it either, so will try that next time, but I'll give HO a ring if it is still noisy.  No, have never used the butterfly on Speed 10, although I do have difficulty trying to remember to keep it going at Speed 4 or less  :(
