Title: A plug for Kalbarri
Post by: Halex on January 22, 2012, 11:21:51 pm
It is beautiful up here, peaceful, the scenery  is spectacular & the people lovely & friendly.

You can have 2 holidays in one.. The beaches are good, snorkelling at blue holes is fun. The murchinson river is blue and great for swimming, fishing, kayaking & lots more. Yesterday went out to the gorges, , absolutely stunning scenery.

Its 6 hours from perth by car & well worth the trip.

We are staying at Kalbarri Beach Resrt, lovely pool, bbqs round the pool. Tennis courts, badminton, tabe tennis. The units have new kitchens, comfortable, clean rooms & a great safe place to bring the kids.

To me Kalbarri is a hidden jewel.

Bring your own food and its a great value holiday for all to enjoy.

H :)

Oh you're having some weird but wonderful weather!  Hardly any wind!

I love Kalbarri but I love living in Geradlton.  Best of both worlds.  Shops that make life easier but still have access to beautiful beaches, fishing and camping. :)

Enjoy the rest of your holiday. :)

We went to Kalbarri for our Honeymoon - how many many many years ago?  44 years ago :P.  It is a lovely place, but so much nicer then.  Very little there then.  Pub, Caravan Park Post office and little shop.  We took a little tent which we had purchased for next to nothing, and borrowed two camp stretchers from Dad.  We had Bull Ants near us, which we used to chop up with a large knife any time they made for the tent.  In those days, tents did not come with a sewn in floor.  In the end it was just easier to buy some Dieldrin (very nasty chemical freely available in those days) to deal with them.  Couldn't cook for nuts, so toasted sandwiches every night.  When it rained, we sat inside the tent in the mist and damp, as we found the tent wasn't waterproof.  Stretcher beds busted after our first night, with the canvas ripping in both of them, so we slept with our bums on the ground for 2 weeks :o.  Dad just laughed when we returned them and said "well they weren't built for two". :D :D

Thinking back on it all now, I am sooooo glad we have got a caravan. ;D

:D :D :D :D :D What a great story Nola, I had a great laugh picturing you both on one of those stretcher beds. They would have to be the most uncomfortable things ever invented and the ground was probably much more comfy.

Hally my sister spent the week in Kalbarri too, staying at the same place.  Funny if you met.  They have had a great time too.  I keep getting texts with pics of huge yellow fin tuna they have caught.  They have a 14 year old son with them.

Nola, that sounds very exciting. We've had some fun trips in tents too, but when DD arrived we got a caravan and of course have had them ever since.

40 years ago (DD was doing his nashos) my brother and I went up to Kalbarri after work on Friday for a long weekend. (from Morawa). We had made a booking at the only motel. When we got there the proprietress put on a huge stink, she wasn't having any of this 'going on' in her motel and was genuinely unpleasant. We look very alike and gave her our drivers' licenses to look at but she would have none of it. We eventually drove back home (around 200 mile) and didn't have the weekend away.
As you say Nola Kalbarri is a very different place now. :D :D

We had a run in with the same woman.  Got ourselves kicked out of the pub.  They had hired a band to play that night, which I suppose in those days was quite special to them.  We had a group of Perthies, one of whom told the best jokes and had the whole room captivated.  No one wanted to listen to the band, they were all too busy laughing.  So, we had to gooooo. ;D

That's really weird Fundj ! You haven't changed the font colour to white or something have ya ? Or are they really not there at all ? I was commenting on the other thread about how yummyyyy your pancakes look, I'll copy it here lol so u can see it:

Fundj, those pancakes look sooooo yummy.  They rose, really really well.  They remind me of the ones you get at the pancake manor (not sure if it's a QLD thing or Australia Wide), really fluffy and melt in your mouth.  Do you have a special recipe ? Would you mind posting it if you do ? Doesn't look like the EDC one to me lol. I'd love to make them for brekkie tomorrow lol.

What if Uni, I say gave you my user name and change the password temporarily, and you log in with my username to see whether it could be a problem related to your username itself or pc problem ? May be worth a try ????? If you want to give it a try, I will send you a pm, can you receive pm's ?

Fundj, I have sent you a pm, but not sure whether you'll get so will post here as well.  I have logged in on another pc and can see everything, not sure about posting because I didn't want to post under your user name.  Something that may be worth a try is within internet explorer, go to tools and internet options.  Click on where it say delete browsing history, cookies etc. It will take u to another screen and you can go through what you want to delete (I'd do cookies, temporary internet files and maybe history).  I find if my computer is running really slow if I go through these it cleans it up and it runs better. Your computer will start saving these all over again after you've deleted them.   Just be aware though if you have any sites where you have saved your password so you don't have to log in each time you visit, you will need to re-enter them next time you visit (and save them again on your first log in).

What a wonderful outcome Uni - Deb, hats off to you.  I've written down those instructions for when I may need them.  I so admire people with so much computer knowledge.

You're welcome, glad it worked.  Thanks for the pancake recipe, we just had them now (double batch at least for this house lol). Very yummy ! Kids devoured them.

Reading about your problems Uni reminded me that a friend of DD's keeps reminding her to do this and it is great for speeding up the computer. The only nuisance is having to log in again but it is worth it.
I am so glad things are sorted out.
