Help! I saw a recipe for a breakfast risotto using vanilla bean some time ago, finally remembered to buy the vanilla bean this week, but can't find the recipe! I've looked online and googled, but have vague idea it wasn't online but in print, a newsletter? ???

mmmm it sounds GREAT! i could do with a change from polenta lol

Contact TMX in Perth - there was a recipe posted in the Newsletter before Christmas from a Victorian consultant (? Stewart). If somebody has the newsletter please post recipe - I have it at home, but not going there for a while. ;)
It was sent out with a TMX newsletter in a slightly different format prior but neither have been saved to their blog.
Janine B in Melbourne should have the recipes if no luck with Perth

Bump! Anyone? I've torn my house apart and haven't found it :-[

Eureka! I found it!
Cinnamon Breakfast Risotto
40g raw sugar or rapadura
good sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla essence (or 1/2 vanilla pod split)
30g butter (optional)
50g natural sultanas
200g arborio rice
1 litre whole milk
Cook all ingredients for 45 mins at 90 deg on reverse and speed 1-2 without butterfly or reverse and speed soft with butterfly
check for texture, taste and rice cooked through.

Glad to see your persistence paid off Harmony - it is annoying when you know there is a recipe out there and you just can't find it. Hope you enjoy it.

yay!!
i had a go the other day and it was very yummy though i didn't cook it nearly long enough.
-
::) I hated it! I think I'll stick to cheesy, savoury risottos from now on :D
-
i didn't make that recipe though, i did mine with ground almonds and berries in it ;)

I love rice pudding and I think it is just a variation ?? Looks good brazen ;D ;D ;D
-
i based mine on a slow cooker dessert one i had but made it a LOT healthier lol
-
hmm Brazen care to share your wisdom lol. I am looking for new brekky idea's and am the first to admit not very creative in the kitchen. Can follow a recipe perfectly ;D

oh gosh i can't remember what i did now, i think it was skim milk, rice, cinnamon, ground almond, sugar to taste, vanilla essence probably and then only added the berries in at the last minute. i found the rice took a lot longer to cook than expected though - i expected it to take less than 20 mins but it took about double that and still wasn't completely cooked

There's a non-TMX version here that could be adapted http://www.gourmettraveller.com.au/breakfast-risotto-with-poached-rhubarb.htm?sssdmh=dm14.153426 (http://www.gourmettraveller.com.au/breakfast-risotto-with-poached-rhubarb.htm?sssdmh=dm14.153426) ??
