Well, here I am 16 months later with the same problem again. I had just started making Quirky's creamy chicken and brown rice soup, I went to chop up the veggies and get the "sound of death" from my blades.  I will be emailing HO, and politely explaining that these should be replaced at no cost to me.    >:(

No, just put them in how they are.  You get a extra layer of creamy at the bottom.  Some of my muffin trays are big & when I use these with the pattie cases inside the tin the cheesecake filling can go outside the base of the oreo bikkie but it makes no more mess that a usual one.  If you were wanting to serve them without the pattie cases, use a muffin tray that fits the oreo exactly.

Sometimes Oreos are cheaper to buy than just the plainer bikkies, and being a little smaller they fit easily in the bottom of the patty cases.  Just as yummy this way.

I just copied this from the NSW Fair Trading web page.

Manufacturers often provide a written warranty that promises:
•goods will be free from defects for a certain period of time
•defects will entitle the consumer to a repair, replacement or refund.

This is called a ‘warranty against defects’. It usually lists the defects covered and the period of the warranty.

When goods covered by a warranty against defects fail to meet a consumer guarantee, you can insist the manufacturer honours the warranty.

A warranty against defects is different from an ‘express warranty’.

‘Express’ warranties

Businesses often make extra promises - sometimes called ‘express warranties’ - about the quality, state, condition, performance or characteristics of goods. This may be in addition to the ‘warranty against defects’.

In doing so, they guarantee the goods will satisfy this express warranty.

For example:
A supplier tells the consumer that a bed will last for 10 years. If the bed only lasts for six years, the consumer will be entitled to a remedy.

An express warranty may not be in writing and is a promise usually made to persuade you to buy the goods – it is different to a warranty against defects

My consultant, at the time I was considering purchasing my TM said to me in an email that "There is a 2 year comprehensive warranty against faulty manufacture but a life time expectancy"
I think that this is just like the express warranty mentioned by fair trading.  The hard bit is getting head office to do something about it if something goes wrong.  I think that they should just change the warranty to 10 years.  I got a free replacement blade from HO (see http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12139.15) & I think that is because I said something on the forum about it.

Yes, sorry the thought of cooking without a Thermomix is dreadful.

When I emailed HO, the same info I said as to what was going on with my thermomix they said it sounded like my blades had released.  When I asked about how to protect the blades from releasing again they said "Just make sure you stick to the suggested sizes of raw vege’s frozen fruit and meat etc when chopping and not overloading the machine as the blades will take this additional strain to protect the machine".  I am really happy HO responded very quickly & replaced free of charge.  They didn't actually say that me, the user (overloading) was what cause the blades to release.  I certaintly didn't realise that I had been overloading my TM & I always follow recipies from here mostly & the EDC.  The only thing I would of been heavy handed on would be grating cheddar cheese because I never weight the amount. It's a big shock to system to think that I caused the problem by either overloading or not chopping the food small enough before putting it into the TM. It's not a mistake I am likely to do again.  I love my TM & cannot cook with it anymore!

Head office contacted me straight away after I emailed them.
Replacement (free of charge) blades are on their way to me already.   :D

Yes, thanks CC, that does sound very similar to to the link you posted.  Will contact HO.

I just went to grate up some cheese & TM made a really strange sound.  I didn't have very much in there but thought maybe some was stuck on the blades so I took half of the cheese out & tried again.  The blades looked like they were spinning around but not fast.  So then I tried with just some frozen bread to see if the cheese was the problem.  Still really weird sounding noise from TM.  When I took the cheese out the top part of the blades (round bit above the blades) felt really hot & the cheese had something black on it, like grease.  My TM is just turned 2 last month & I haven't seen my consultant since I bought it.  I hope they will still fix it under warranty. What should I do?  Tomorrow I am leaving to go on holidays on the Gold Coast & was going to take TM with me but now it looks like I will not be using it this holiday period.

I made this bread today for the first time, it was yum! I got all the ingredients from Coles, (already had yeast & quinoa) rather than me spending an hour looking for all the stuff I ordered online, click & collect, too easy.   ;D

Bubbles, I am not sure if muslin will work, it may be too fine.  You could use anything that strains as fine or as coarse as you like your drink to be. Putting it in a bag makes the squeezing part very easy.  I bought some cheap nut milk bags on ebay just to make my juice.  I have made nut milk before but used a fine sieve (nut milk bag was much finer).  Here is the Brownie Milk http://thermorecipes.blogspot.com.au/2009/10/summer-drinks-series.html

Tonight I made somebodies Special awesome cheese sauce to go on cauliflower.  Yesterday it was Bimby Chocolate cake for ladies coffee group & I turned half the batter into mini cupcakes for the kids school lunchboxes.  My dad is bringing me a bag of lemons to make some lemon butter (his request after I gave him a jar) & he wants some pasionfruit ones this time too!  Everybody loves Cyndi's Vegetarian Sausage Rolls, the first time I made them I told hubby they were 'healthy" & he didn't notice there wasn't any meat in them  ;)
Chocolate Fundy Wudgy Cookies are a great hit.  I often make those up but only cook half the dough & leave the rest in the fridge to have a fresh batch at the end of the week.
I have a recipe called brownie milk that makes chocolate syrup to make milkshakes, so easy to whip up a milkshake for starving kids!  I am still working on a good icecream.  I want creamy but not over the top fattening, still trying to get both in the same recipe.  Have been making quinoa porridge, I am the only one who likes it, the kids think it smells funny but I love it.  There is always something going on in TM.  I don't cook alot of mains in it but would like to do more, Deborah

Thanks everybody.  I found out about TM's when my food processor blew up & I needed to research for a new one.  I had a look on the TASTE website & found heaps of info about the TM & so got one instead.

Well, I have been trying to since yesterday but everytime I try it does not load.  I have had my TM for 6 months & found this forum really, really helpful.  I have so many recipes from you great contributors.  Having all the comments with a recipes gives me the confidence that the recipe is proven to be a success, thanks for sharing all the knowledge.  I posted in a juice thread.  It is not an original idea, having come from the living synergy website where they use a nut milk bag to strain the pulp after juicing in the TM.  I have loved the 3 I have made from this, yum.  Have a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqqBakMbCjg&feature=player_embedded
Thanks, Deborah
