mmmm.... everyone talking about sugared almonds - where do I get me that recipe!!!!
Oh and last night we made the carob sorbet - AMAZINGLY yummy, but a note to self - when you use the TM to melt the sugar etc etc, make sure it's cooled right down before throwing in ice! We only got a little bit of frozen stuff and had to refreeze the rest! Blonde moment. 3

oh, fabulous! I love goats cheese, and was wondering if this could be done myself! It costs anywhere from $7 - $9 for 100g of it here!

Shally's DH - LOL. I know, you're all very trying... I mean, trying your best!!!
faffa - yeah, i think I just have a thing about spoiling the "pristine" book - but, having said that, I've already spilt food on mine today, so it's already no longer "virgin" (eeek!) MJ - thank you! My husband and I went through a brief phase where we made emoticons, for some reason. There's actually a longer version where he gets blended into "ribena", but it was just a shade too big to upload here! We are disturbing folk. 5

today - porridge again this morning - I just stuck to the amounts I've always used, and it worked perfectly. and it didn't burn or stick! Then I made our first of many "chai chiller" - crushed ice, milk, and chai syrup. YUM. We're gonna need more of these tomorrow and the next day when it's 40C!!! Then, i made hamburgers (never done that before) and was ably to fry and chop the onions, make breadcrumbs etc - and the Tm was the only dirty dish. Niiiiice. Loving it so far! Desperately want to make choc sorbet tonight but the bubba is asleep and I don't want to risk it.

well, it arrived last night, and I've already made chai lattes, breakfast (porridge and fruit sauce), a batch of roasted tomato pasta sauce, and two batches on gingerbread... lol!!!
Don't worry, my hubby doesn't normally have such clear direction as to what to get me. It's only because the other blender is about dead that he thought of it at all! So he's claiming it's my birthday present too so he doesn't have to think of one of them too! 8

LOL.... it's what happens when I'm too busy watching the pretty blades spinning at the demo and not listening to the presenter! I'm sure she would have mentioned it...
And MAN, did I ever learn the "go easy on the water" rule this morning. I had soaked my porridge (and quinoa and sunflower seeds and almonds) overnight, so I figured that less water would be fine. In fact, I used only 200gm H2O for 190gm oats etc, and it was still waaaaay too much! So, note to self - if you suspect it won't work, it probably won't!! 9

well.... I made a chai latte..... because my baby is HEEERE!!! It arrived fairly late this after noon, so I only had time to make a quick latte before I had to get the young mister ready for bed! But I'm already plotting breakfast.... porridge with fruit sauce!!! Also learned the "Time before Temperature" rule when my milk sat there spinning but not getting hot! LOL

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone! This seems like such a nice place to hang out. I spent hours last night looking through all my existing recipe books for ones I could try converting to make in the TM. Still no sign of it.... I'm hanging out!

Recipe Requests / Making goats cheese?« on: December 09, 2009, 12:58:41 pm »
I've recently seen a youtube tutorial on how to make soft cheese in the TM - does anyone know if the same rules could be applied to goats milk/cheese? I found some goats milk recently, and it's only just occurred to me to try.
Still waiting for my TM to arrive, just trying to plan in advance what I can do! 12

I'd been eyeing off a new Vita-Mix blender for a while - I've used my old Braun for about 7 years, and it's served me faithfully and well. I pretty much use it every day, so I knew when mine finally died, I would be going for a better quality one - most of the ones I was looking at were $1000+ anyway. Plus I wanted to be able to do ice etc. Not to mention, I've always wanted a grain mill, to make my flour fresh, as right now I buy in bulk and freeze it! Most grain mills (the good ones) can cost around about $900 pretty easily.
So when my mum told me she'd been to half a demo, I looked into it online. After the demo, I was hooked - here was the two machines I wanted most in one, PLUS a ton of other things I'd been meaning to get - rice cooker, ice cream machine, decent digital scales, steamer, etc etc etc. It was just a question of could we afford one, and how soon! Anything that will stgop us from going out to get fast food when we are feeling tired and lazy is well worth the money in my eyes. Plus I'd like to have more children, and I can totally see the benefits for healthy, cheap cooking. 13

Oh man... I can't WAIT to try this one! I'd definitely use the coconut oil, I think as I use it in just about everything else, it's so good for us! Bring on the "nutella"...

Yeah, I hear you on the margarine thing - my dad used to keep it in his tucker box because he could use one tub over a couple of years, and it never went off!
As for maccas - as they say, "If it ain't real, spit out ya meal!" I think that definitely counts for most fast food. 15

thanks Gretchen and Judy. Is it just me or is this forum full of aussies? Yeah, I am very thankful for what I am about to recieve (sounds like saying grace) DH is very sweet. Mind you, he'll probably reap most of the benefits!
I've been hearing about how badly done the cookbook is - is this true? A lot of people say that they just go off forum recipes now. That's slightly a bummer - what about the other cookbooks, like the Raw one?
