Festive Seasons / Re: Cookies and Cream Fudge - with pics - 2nd version
« on: December 18, 2011, 02:07:09 am »
I've just made a batch and my husband has declared it to be "the best fudge he's ever eaten". High praise indeed!  :)

Just wondering what other variations people might have tried to get some different flavours - eg Baileys or other liqueur? peanut butter? butterscotch? caramel? dark chocolate and nuts?

I thought probably I could just add peanut butter/liqueur/dark choc/nuts at the end in place of the cookies...but would I still need the white choc? Could you substitute brown sugar or add some golden syrup to get caramel fudge instead?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you're happy to share

Introduce Yourself / Hi everyone!

Hello everyone.

My name is Kris and I'm a stay-at-home mummy to 2 gorgeous girls in Brisbane, Qld, Australia. My wonderful husband just bought me a Thermomix for my birthday on Tuesday - I think it may have been the daily doses of "If I had a Thermomix I wouldn't have to chop this onion/stand here with this mixer/get this coffee ground at the shop/etc, etc that gave him the hint! lol  :D

I went to a friend's demo about a month ago and I was hooked! I've really re-discovered a love of cooking in recent months - my girls, at 2 and a half and 4 and a half years old, are old enough to help out and I find I have more time now to whip up yummy things that I haven't been able to the past few years. Also, being a mummy and with our household living on one wage I'm very conscious of the nutritional value of what we're eating (and of course that often means hiding the good stuff so the kids don't even realise they're eating it!) and trying to be frugal and smart with what and how I cook, so..... I just happened to hear about Thermomix at just the right time - what an amazing machine - I can't wait to really get to know it and see what I can do with it!

I have a feeling I may be spending a fair amount of time with you people in the next little while as I learn my way around my new baby, so Hi! and looking forward to chatting with you around the forum here. I've already spent a few evenings reading and making notes so I already owe lots of thanks!!

Cheers, Kris
