Well I survived....and no tears! DS6 had a great first day in grade 1 and DS5 loved his first day in prep. That's it, I've sent them off into the big wide world. They don't think they need me anymore. But I did get big cuddles when they got home 😉
Kimmyh, My baby started prep yesterday ...... I feel sooo lost without him. I'm feeling it more today too because my DH is also at work today. He's soooo excited about school though, he thinks he's a big kid now like his 2 brothers. Last week I said to him, I'm going to cry when you go to school because you're my baby. His response was don't cry Mummy you have to be brave, I won't cry. awwwwww. I didn't cry but boy do I miss my cheeky little monkey.

Frozzie, our kids are blondies and we often get Asian tourists wanting to take their photos BUT they mostly ask and are very very friendly and gracious. I would be really creeped out by people doing stuff like that behind your back ! I don't think I could hold my tongue, I'd have to say something. If it makes you feel uncomfortable ...... it's offensive.

No air conditioning Judy. It wasn't too bad at night for sleeping, but we were out and about a lot during the day. We were out on our friends boat and jetski one of the days and despite applying sunscreen repeatedly, my DS5 got a blister on the top of his lip and under his eyes were burnt ! You especially don't realise how hot it is when you're in the water.
Glad to be home to air conditioning though .......... it's forecast for 41 for Brisbane tomorrow yikes.

We have returned today from a camping trip in our van to Somerset Dam. Beautiful area but very hot up around the 40's. It was soooo hot. DS7 turned the tap on in the van and said "Why did you turn the hot water on?" our reply was we don't have hot water lol ........ and the water didn't run cool either. Great trip away though.

I made another batch with 90 mil Baileys and it set but was a bit gooey, hard to cut nicely and a bit grainy ......... so will stick to 70 mil in future.

Wonder, I bought one last year and to me it's no different to having air conditioning running. My kids drown out any noise it makes by a long way lol

Great Hally ! Would you mind sharing what recipe you used ? I can never get my lot to eat risotto ......... I've tried a couple of times and no luck with those recipes, so just wondered what recipe/s you have success with ?

Wow ! I have been making this fudge with only 1 tablespoon of glucose and no golden syrup and it's really sweet to me (and a few that have tried it). When I made it with Baileys I did the same and it's very sweet too.

I still have a hand beater like Cookie for the odd occasion that I need one. At least they take up less room lol. The one I have is like a super charged one so doesn't take long at all so standing holding it isn''t an issue. I got it from Aldi a few years ago and it's been really good. That year they had a cheapie one and then this one, so in brand names I''m sure there will be power differences. It's cheaper Hally lol ? I don't make heaps of cakes though because I end up the one eating them lol. Kids and DH aren't big on cakes.

I agree Kimmyh .......... my friends looks really Christmassy. I''ve asked her what she put on top but looks like pistachios and rasberries to me but will see. I had linked the wrong recipe .......... she has two similar. I have updated the original and will post here as well. http://madefromscratch.co.nz/christmas-ice-cream-cake/#.UrDQqsbxvuh
