Chit Chat / Re: App Tip for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch users

I just went through the free Martha Stewart apps that I mentioned above and counted the recipes included:

120 cookie recipes
72 smoothie recipes
140 cocktails and 35 bar snacks

All free!

***** just a warning. When you search for Martha Stewart in the app store, there are free versions of these apps and ones that cost.

Martha Stewart's cookies app is currently free in the app store! Also free are the in-app purchases of extra  cookie recipes.

Tapping all the links inside the apps, I was then able to download an app of smoothie recipes (Whole Living) with more free "in-app" recipes. Finally, I also downloaded Martha's cocktail app for free. Lots of downloading here tonight.

Hope you find them and they're still free!

I googled it and found that Harvey Norman have it listed online with the chopping tower. Not in stock, though.

My friend would like to see it, a Thermomix is out of her reach, and she doesn't already have a food processor. Puréeing and weighing are missing, but you can fry. It would be good for her to take in her caravan.

Thanks for the welcomes, Dede and Astarra.

Yes, I've been busy. I made Quirky Jo's creamy rice soup and some sundried tomato, basil and feta pull apart yesterday, and tonight we're having chicken, rocket and brown rice salad.

I am planning to buy a second bowl next week at my demo.

Well it arrived on Friday!
My Consultant and I made the veggie stock and I asked about organizing a Demonstration. It's booked for June 14.
Making soup, salad and baked goods today.

Hello to a fellow Queenslander!

Great! I'm definitely going to try and book a demo for June. I got a call today to say my thermomix was ready for delivery, but I was babysitting all afternoon.

It's a bit sooner than I expected, but a $200 saving is not to be sneezed at!

Chookie, I've decided the bread maker, juicer and milk shake maker can go to my husband's work. His receptionist will know of a family or two that might appreciate them.

Judy, I haven't been converting recipes as much as I thought - I joined Weight Watchers in late February. The only favorite recipe I did convert was a Brownie one! Only 5 kg to go. The salads I saw at Back to Basics have come in useful.

Dede - Hi!

An update.

I went to a "Back to Basics" class two weeks ago to see a Thermomix in the flesh. I ordered one last Monday, and I see the credit card charge went through late last week. So I should get a call soon from the lady who is delivering it.

My Thermo Chef? It's going to a good home. My daughter has neither blender nor food processor, and her little boy is now eight months old. We had a cooking day on Sunday, so she could become familiar with the TC. We made meatballs and sauce, steamed and pursed veggies for William and a torta caprese.

I visit this forum often, and really enjoy the recipes and the chat. Thanks!

Mine arrived today too! An early birthday present.

I agree that it looks beautiful, and I can definitely see myself cooking from it. Must get out the sticky bookmarks!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Aussie Brenda, I'm not too remote- about two hours drive from Brisbane.

Fundj, thanks for the info about the bread machines. Mine doesn't have a cook only function, but I will read further.

Mcmich, judydawn and Trudy, I'm enjoying the journey. It's nice to learn new things.

Happy New Year to you all!

Hi Everyone!

I've come out from lurkdom to introduce myself. I'm a mother of 4, 2 boys, 2 girls - the eldest three are married/partnered up. My baby is 17 and will be in year 12 soon at boarding school. I work from home, love to bake (not so good for the waistline), and can be a sporadic cook when it comes to main meals for just the two of us.

I forgot, I have a terrible cookbook addiction!

Okay, now the confession- I bought a thermochef. I researched both machines. At the time, thermomix demos were not happening here, and there were no retail outlets selling thermochefs in town. I actually got my first look while channel-surfing, the TC was being used on the shopping channel. I decided that for me, dipping my toe into a new way of cooking, the TC would be a test to see if I used it enough. I have a Kitchen Aid mixer, blender and food processor. The blender has been shelved, I'm thinking about passing on the food processor to one of my children, and the bread maker is destined for a garage sale (I only make bread about three times a year now).

My eldest daughter just had our first grandchild, and if she ever becomes interested in cooking (she bakes), I can see the TC going to her house. Then I'll have a decision to make. But for now, I'm perfectly happy with my TC.

I've enjoyed looking at the posts and recipes on this forum, and learnt about Tenina's dinner spinner and the MWOC app (both of which I have bought). I've tried converting some recipes over christmas (rum balls, cheesecakes), and when I remember to write down what I did :) I'll be sure to list them here.
