Chit Chat / Re: What are you been cooking today

The TM got a workout today! Stepfather's birthday so we had 10 people round for a bbq dinner. I made a pesto dip and herb/cream cheese dip, beetroot salad, asian style salad, and the totre caprese for dessert with choc sauce in it (WOW that cake is GOOD!). Was a resounding success :)

I think it'd have to be more basil. My greek basil is hardier than sweet basil so I actually manage to keep it from being chomped by insects, but it's not as strong. I added some rocket as well and I think that's why it's got such a peppery kick to it :D I think you're right, Thermomixer, next time I'll buy some additional basil and maybe go half/half with the mizuna. It wasn't too bad for an experiment, and it was a BRILLIANT bright green :)

I had lots of fun with "Trevor" (he's had a name change - this one will stick!) over the weekend. Made steamed puddings, rum balls and vitality balls for a birthday present, red onion relish, mizuna pesto, more pumpkin soup and berry sorbet. I'm having so much fun with it! Everything was absolutely delicious, except for the pesto, which was a semi-success...mizuna has taken over my vege garden (to the point where it's enveloping all my seedlings!) and I've been trying to find ways to use it up. Unfortunately my partner isn't the greatest fan of the taste. Used a heeeeeap of it in the pesto, with silverbeet instead of spinach (also growing rampant right now!) and some token greek basil. It turned out a bit 'grassy' tasting but still nice with some parmesan. Kinda like freshly mowed grass with a twist and a peppery finish :P We finished our pasta though so it must have been ok :)

Hi Marilyn :) I also got one a couple of days ago and have tried the same recipes. Maybe it's the newbie path? ;) Hope you have lots of fun discovering what it can do

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :) I'm sure I'm going to spend a lot o time on this forum. We made a mushroom and silverbeet risotto tonight with help from "Jeeves" as my partner has named the TMX!

Methinks I'm going to spend the whole weekend cooking :D

Hi there, I'm Wendy, from East Vic Park in Perth. Woo hoo! So excited - my thermomix was delivered last night! We made a pumpkin soup for dinner and the custard for dessert, since my partner didn't go to the demonstration and he *needed* to see it :P Actually, you should have seen his eyes bug out after chopping onions for a few seconds. Very funny, and I think his words were "WHAT? I'm never chopping an onion again!"

I stumbled across this forum while searching for reviews when I was considering buying a thermomix. Really impressed by all the tips and recipes and sense of community on here :)

*sigh* best go to work. All I want to do is stay home and play on it now!
