Bread / Re: Isi´s easy Portuguese Rolls
« on: January 06, 2012, 12:45:22 am »
Just wanted to THANK YOU for the recipe.  Made these last night and they were a HUGE hit.  I had to make some uncalled for alterations.

Let rise in TMX for the 45 minutes.  Kneaded again for 1 minute.  Then the toddler decided to CRACK it from her bedroom and I needed to spend an hour looking after her 'poor finger' (I'd cut her nails earlier and it freaked the living daylights out of her), so the dough rose again in TMX for an hour.  I wasn't sure what to do after that as I've never made bread before, but I kneaded it again for 1 minute, then followed the instructions from there.  They were absolutely beautiful.  Super light and crunchy.  Will definitely be making again and can't wait to try some of the alterations like olives etc!

 ;D  ;D  ;D

Thanks Cookie - coconut is a great idea!  Yum yum yum!

Thermy is so very good for my time and the ingredients that we use, but not so good for those hips!

These look fantastic and I'd like to try making over the weekend.

Sorry for the stupid question (I am very new to baking in general), but in the second last step 'spread with conserve, then with topping. Place cherry halves cut side up on top' is the 'conserve' the cherry jam, and the 'cherry halves' the frozen cherries??  Just want to make sure I do it right!

Also - I'll try it as per the recipe exactly for this time, but for another time - is there anything that I could substitute the almonds for do you think?  I'm not a nut fan myself.  This dish is for my hubby who will SALIVATE at the thought of it, but any ideas on how to make it something I could have a nibble at too?  Or maybe it's best for my hips that I just leave it as is ;)

Thanks again - looks fantastic!

Thanks for the welcome everyone :)  Aussie Brenda, my daughter is quite scared of loud noises (vaccuum etc) so was worried about the noise at first, but it seems to annoy her rather than frighten her now, like your grandson ;)

Good idea - I'll definitely do that.  Thanks again for the tips everyone.

I'm going to try the EDC Beef Strog tonight, however I've found lots of tweaks on this forum so will incorporate them also.

Thanks again  :)

Thanks everyone!   ;D

hello and welcome RPG33, how is your DD coping with the sounds of the TM  :D

Omg the NOISE, haha!!  It is taking me awhile to get used to, I must say.  However we've just moved in to a new home and my little one's room is as far away from the kitchen as it possibly could be, so no problems so far ;)

Thank you so much for the replies!!  Yes, was definitely on reverse.  I triple check that each time I need to use it.  And there was heaps of other things that were still in their shape (eg large chunks of tuna) etc.  I'll try it again as the taste was fantastic and I'll use penne the next time as the recipe suggests...

Thanks for the other recipe - looks great, I'll try that too!!

Hi Everyone

I hope I'm posting in the right place, I'm new to the forum and have a question about a dish I made in my Thermomix last night.

I was looking for a nice Tuna Mornay type dish and I've made enough dishes from the EDC to understand that this forum is going to be my bible instead ;)  I found this recipe - http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3750.0   It was absolutely DELICIOUS so many thanks for the recipe, but I think I had a problem with the pasta.

I tweaked the recipe a bit as I didn't have all the ingredients and was making it for my toddler.  I added half a cup of frozen peas, but omitted shallots.  I also left out the wine but added the 75g in extra water instead.  I did include the optional small can of corn.  Lastly, I used small spiral pasta instead of penne.  Aside from those things, I followed the recipe to the letter.

The pasta wasn't cooked by time the dish was ready, so I kept cooking for another 3 minutes (checking each minute).  By the time it was ready, it was PERFECT at the very top of the TM bowl, but from just under that to the very bottom the pasta had basically disintegrated.  It didn't matter and was delicious regardless (and not gluggy at all) but I am just wondering if there are any obvious ways I could have gone wrong?  The TM bowl was full to the brim when I had finished adding the ingredients, and I'm thinking that there was just too much in there.

Any ideas??

Thank you  :)  :)

Hi Everyone

I received 'Thermy' just before Christmas and am loving it so far - have used it at least once a day since it arrived!

I have a daughter who is 20 months old, I work full time, and I used to spend hours and hours in the kitchen to ensure my girl eats well.  Thermy has saved me so much time!!

Loving the forum - so many great ideas and tips.  Looking forward to chatting to you all.

 :)
