Thank you! I will give it a try... now I need to find a recipe for tasty chicken burgers.. here in Montreal (if anyone is wondering) the best chicken burgers are served at L'Anecdote.. they are actually spicy chicken burgers and they are so damn good! I wish I could steal their combination of spices.

Hi!
I want to be able to ground my own chicken or turkey to make burgers...
What is the best way to ground these types of meat?
Also, I like making tacos, and for this I need to shred cooked chicken, what speed should I do it?
Thank you in advance for the tips!

Thanks for the tips! For desserts I always use half the sugar than the recipes ask for... but for meals, as I have NO cooking skills at all.. I never know if by omitting something I will ruin the recipe... but it's good to know that I can cut back with the butter and oil..
Also, EVO isn't cheap!

I'm very happy with my TMX, it has made my life so much easier since I really dislike cooking. Even my husband said: you're so much more agreeable in the kitchen now and he's right, I've stopped my grumpiness and my complaining. I have only two cookbooks right now. I live in Quebec so I had to take À Table, so my husband could cook too and I took one in Spanish "Cocino a mi manera", however I've noticed that most recipes require so much oil AND butter and many of the recipes in the official TMX sites are mostly desserts... I've yet to find a good blog/site or something that has healthy food. I have bookmarked most of the blogs like Quirky cooking, Teba Stiles kitchen and others, but either the ingredients are really specialized and tough to find equivalent in Canada (and expensive!), so basically before TMX we were eating super healthy, mostly sauteed dishes but now at least three times a week when I try a recipe I just cringe at the 70gr of butter and 40 grams of oil... In fact, before TMX i didn't even eat butter! So basically I'm kind of panicky because one of the main reasons for getting the TMX was to eat healthier and it doesn't seem so much that way. Suggestions?

This is an old thread but I wanted to share what I do with my recipes, because I'm so tired of printing out one at a time, and until I can afford an iPad, what I do is I saving my recipes on tastebook.com
You can just copy and paste ingredients and recipes, mark them private so as not infringe copyright and then order your recipe book in a practical binder! The website classifies your recipes. It's almost like blurb.com only easier. I like it because I can get together a bunch of recipes from different sites and I just keep the ones I truly like. Plus you can easily add more pages...

Hi! I would like to adapt a cinnamon roll recipe for the Thermomix. The recipe says knead for 8 to 10 minutes by hand. What would be a good time to set in the TMX?
Thanks! I'll post the recipe if I'm successful!

Hi. I'm a new Thermomix user. I just got my beautiful machine a week ago and I've had a great time trying out recipes and most of them have come out quite good, the only thing that didn't come quite so wonderful was our first bread. I have questions about yeast and I've read the thread fresh yeast vs dry yeast but it didn't answer my question...
I use dry yeast, 8gr per sachet, and the recipe called for 25gr of fresh yeast. Does anyone know what is the equivalence? Our bread turned out hard as a rock and very dense.. I followed the recipe on the french book "À Table" for rustic bread.
Any insights are greatly appreciated!

Wow, thank you so much for all the replies and encouragement. I have told myself two things: 1. I will start simple, I won't jump into complicated recipes. I've been browsing too many sites with TMX recipes and suddenly I got overwhelmed. 2. I will forgrive myself if I make disasters.. I just don't want the price tag hovering on my head every time I ruin something Thank you all for making me feel welcome! bit.

Hi, everyone,
This Friday is the big day. I will have my Thermomix delivered! The demonstration was last Friday and it was just a matter of hours before deciding that this machine is too cool!
I have a bit of a history with cooking. I've never been a good cook, in fact, I don't like cooking very much, I thought it would get better with time, but I don't think it is happening. I really don't like to spend time in the kitchen, it's torture to me. I hate the whole process: the thinking about the menu, the grocery shopping, the preparation, the cleaning and then doing it over again in an endless cycle. And we are just my husband and I! I know, I'm a whiner.. but it's something that I just don't like. So one day a colleague told me that she had bought the Thermomix for her husband who is from Spain and is a 'gourmand', he really likes his food. And when she started telling me all the things she could do with this machine I was struck.. I couldn't believe it. I was so impressed by the history of the Thermomix that I thought, how could this have evaded me for so long?
I also want to share some of my concerns about buying it, especially because the price is so steep that I have buyer's remorse. We are just two people in the household. Husband and I, and I've seen that most thermomix recipes are for 4 or 6 servings. It's not a big deal because we can freeze food and have dinner ready for the rest of the week. However I'm afraid that as with every good gadget, at one point you get bored and you just put ir away in a closet...
I'm also concerned about menu planning... in 2011 I want to be a master at planning our menus, also as a means of really REALLY using the thermomix.
I'm really intimidated now that I have my husband's green light to buy it, I wonder how I can make the most of it.
But for now, I'm happy to be part of this forum!
Bit.
