Hi Kerryn, Sorry, I only just saw your message. I would have cooked it on as that's what the recipe says. Will try speed 1 next time! I thought I might try using the paddle (proper name escapes me!) as well to see if that will help move the meat around!

I (finally!) made this tonight and it was nice. But it burnt the bottom of my jug. Just in one spot, but it covers about 1/4 of the bottom. Anyone got any ideas why? Hopefully the vinegar trick will get it off as scrubbing after a soak did nothing!

I've never had any problems with this one either and I make it all the time! It definitely doesn't freeze as hard as bought ice-cream, but it tastes SO much better

For those that have made this, was the mince wet and gluggy? It doesn't feel like a normal meatball and I am more pinching them into shape than rolling. Jumped on here as not sure it looks like it's supposed to!
I'll keep going with it and hope for the best I think!

It was delicious!
I stuffed it with mushies, bacon, spinach and some fetta, seared it to keep the juices in and then cooked it on Varoma for 1:45mins. It was just over 2kg and probably 90 mins would have been enough. But it was very tender and the best roast we've had off the steer!

I LOVE this forum. Every time I've had a question or wondered how to do something, I can always find the answer in less than 5 minutes!
I'm going to try this tonight with a topside stuffed roast. My father in law killed a steer off his farm and because it's not fatty, I've tried slow cooking, slow roasting and normal roasting and the roasts have all been a bit tough. This is the last roast I have so hopefully Thermy will make it FANTASTICO!
I think I will go with Jo's suggestion of searing it first to seal in the juices and then cook it for about an hour. Wish me luck! Will report back how it was in the morning :-)

Thanks Chelsea. Will try that ice-cream out! Sorry for the late reply too. I keep forgetting to come in here unless I am searching for a recipe

Another review from me:
Recipe Name: Shepherds Pie Book Name: EDC Tweaking details: Use normal mash or not mash so much to make it less sloppy. Review: Was very nice, but a bit sloppy. Next time I might not whip the mash to see if that firms it up a bit as it wasn't as easy for my 16 month old to eat! Taste wise, my hubby said it was the best he's ever had! Score: (out of 5*) 4
Recipe Name: Tuna Mornay Book Name: Budget Busters Tweaking details: Does not need 3 cloves of garlic. Review: Waaaaaayyyyy too much garlic - and I love garlic! But the flavour was overwhelming. I will make again, but only use 1 clove. Score: (out of 5*) 4

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is having problems with keeping the ice-cream fresh? It's delicious, but gets an icy texture after 2 days in the freezer. I made the chocolate one from here which keeps a lot better, so thinking it's the milk that causes it.
Any tips or ideas?

Thanks. Thats what I ended up doing and it was really YUM! much better than the EDC recipe! I was just checking as have seen recipes saying marinate for 3 hours. But I think it was strong and flavour-ey enough
