Chit Chat / Re: A curiosity: Has anyone heard & followed Dukan Diet?

Sounds just like Bodytrim.
Works great but hard for me to stick to. First 3 days protein only then introduce veges. all snacks are mostly protein. every 5 to 7 days have a protein only day. Having protein only day makes your body use up its stores of fat, and mixes up your metabolism. Use very little carbs.

Thanks for the info.  Have managed to salvage the outer four inches of the cake as a "cake"!   Next time will try the alternative recipe ... Darn, just paid $35 for my brand new 9" cake pan too!  Am guessing these larger cakes need more time in the oven.

Add a glass of water in middle of cake pan to make it into a ring pan. Works everytime.

Bread / Re: my bread!
« on: June 28, 2011, 12:39:05 am »
I have been making Artisan Bread, using whole grains I grind first. I make it quite wet dough and place in the fridge after the first rise in a small roller box with lid. I make about 10 loaves from one mix. Every morning we have a lovely loaf of bread. yummy

Introduce Yourself / Re: Now to convince the DH
« on: April 13, 2011, 05:33:05 am »
Hi everyone, been lurking for a while and have decided to register and become a part of this great community!

As yet I do not own a Thermomix but hope to change that soon, just have to convince the husband that I will use it and that it is worth the money, which we all know it is but.......

Anyhow in the mean time I am printing off recipes that I want to try and saving my hard earned cash  :P

Sorry but you can't convince hubby, thats why I saved my pennies for 18mths and bought it . When I got it home, he couldn't say anything because I had already bought it!. Now he see's it as a good tool.
Go Figure!!!!

Thanks virginiaqda, another good idea. I can see myself having lots of fun "playing" on my not-so-busy days. But I guess I'm a little concerned about those days when life is really hectic. I was hoping that the TMX would help with quick & easy dinners a few nights a week.  Maybe I just need to get more organized but I find I have at least a couple of nights a week when I need to get dinner on the table pdq!

i run a business 24/7 so quick is also my option. I cook a steak and make coleslaw or chopped salad then we might have ice cream (shop bought ) and DD makes berry sauce to go over. We are all full then.

Hi Moo2,
Last night I had my SIL, MIL,FIL, DD, DS,DH and me for a dinner party. I made mango ice cream first then sweet potato soup then we had beef stroganoff with mash potato. There was plenty plus leftovers. My suggestion would be to make mash potato and bread in the afternoon, then reheat mash in micro. You could also do that for the soup!

Hi MeganJane, the EDC one. Very nice and had it for lunch too!
Cookie1, I sometimes like takeaway, like red rooster so I don't remind DH how quick and easy TM cooking is or I would never have it!!

Chit Chat / Quicker then leftovers!
« on: March 01, 2011, 12:12:52 am »
Last night I pulled a lasagne from the freezer but thought hmm maybe not enough for the whole family? So I decided to make a minestrone soup while waiting for the lasagne to reheat. The soup was made but the lasagne was still in the oven for about another 20 minutes. Now I know its quicker to make something in the TMX then to reheat leftovers. Nice and fresh!

Hi guys,
I am so glad you all loved Quirky in Perth but you can't have her. Isn't she brilliant?
I went to a class on Tues night with a friend (she is an owner) and Jo was the most professional and fun consultant there. Don't get me wrong the others were good but Jo was great! My friend quickly ditched her previous consultant which hadn't even booked in her basic demo after owning it for 12mths!!!
We love you Jo!

Tips and Tricks / Re: burnt bowl, helpppppppppp
« on: February 12, 2011, 12:04:39 am »
I just made yoghurt with the easiyo jug.
I started with 2 litres milk, keeping 1 cup for mixing, add 3/4 cup milk powder, heat to near boiling (small bubbles just coming to the surface).
Cool to 34*c  Heating your milk then cooling before adding yoghurt starter stops that sour flavour.
mix cold milk with 1cup pot set yoghurt.
mix in cooled down milk and pour into easiyo jug. pop into outer jug. pour boiling water, seal and leave for 8 hours.
I then drained my yoghurt overnight in a new chux cloth lined drainer.
best Greek yoghurt you will ever taste. Tastes exactly my favourite local brand Mungalli yoghurt. ;D
