Cherry jam, peanut butter and bread.

I menu plan - the thing that I find most important is that often vegies "die" in the fridge.  For example, if you buy a lettuce and only have salad one time that week, most of the lettuce will end up in the bin.  So I plan "salad" meals for one part of the fortnight (I do a fortnight at a time), and "vegie" meals for the other part of the week.  I also put all "Asian" meals together for the same reason - stuff like bean sprouts only last a couple of days!

I also write a list of what things need buying/defrosting during the week (eg. Wednesday: buy fish, defrost chicken for kebabs tomorrow) - this avoids checking the menu plan and realising that vital ingredients are either in the freezer or at the shops!!

I always try to include at least one new recipe that I've never tried before each fortnight - and try not to have the same meals over and over again.  We had "Corn soup" on the menu plan every week for the first trimester of my pregnancy (as it's totally no effort) and now neither hubby or I can face it ever again!!

I made them TOO thick - they were more like pizza bases.  But they were tasty!!

Isi's chocolate puddings, pita breads (Cyndi O'Meara's recipe) and some cookies & cream icecream.  Mmmm, yum yum.

Isi's crossants - half with chocolate in them, half plain.  I ate 2 plain ones for lunch with cheese - yum :)

And some chocolate biscuits from the forum - can't remember who posted them sorry - I didn't cook them, just rolled up the dough and popped it in the freezer.

Tomorrow I'm making the Chicken Kievs, or maybe the Chicken Cordon Bleus from the forum too.  My sister has just moved back to Tassie from Perth so I have to show off my new appliance that she has heard so much about!

Today I've made yoghurt, pizza dough (to make pizza scrolls and freeze), grated cheese, made LTMs, and I'm making Isi's Pasta in the Oven for dinner.

I was also going to make Brazen's Carrot Cakes and some Cookies & Cream Icecream but maybe we'll see how we go.  Might make them later I'm a bit pooped!!  I'm trying to stock the freezer before the baby arrives but it's quite warm here in Tassie today and it seems to be sapping my energy!

Chit Chat / Re: OMG my Thermomix will be here in an hour

How exciting for you to have your Thermomix at last.

When I got mine I went to the supermarket the next day and bought a big bag of bakers flour, raw sugar, nuts, dried fruit, milk powder and other things that seem to crop up in lots and lots of recipes.  Then you can be happy at home cooking up a storm!!

And the nice thing about going to the supermarket is you can stroll down the aisles looking at various things thinking how you need never buy them again because you can make them yourself now!

Faffa's Hokey Pokey Biscuits and Narelle's Easy Chocolate Slice.

Froze half the biscuit mixture - thank goodness or I'd probably polish it all off.

A friend wants me to make her some bread dough too, she's dropping in after work.  She wants to make her own bread but I don't really see her doing it the old fashioned way so I said I'd knock up some dough for her and she can take it home and bake it.

Super easy recipe, took no time at all to make.

But mine is also a bit undercooked - a bit soft and crumbly.  I cooked it at 180 for 12 mins, so I think you don't need to be TOO concerned about overcooking it.

These are SO good - they taste just like the posh ones from the supermarket that are about $4 per serve and so bad for you...

DH ate 3 of these in a row!

Thank you Isi   :)

Introduce Yourself / Hi from Jess - another Newbie
« on: January 11, 2011, 10:31:13 am »
Hi All
I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.  My name is Jess and I'm from Tassie.

I'm a newlywed and 38 weeks pregnant with our first baby (a boy) - looking forward to making lots of baby food in the Thermomix.

I've always been big on homemade food and avoiding preservatives, processed food, etc (most of the time), and am so grateful for how much easier the TMX makes this task!  I haven't bought a loaf of bread or tub of yoghurt since we got the Thermie at the beginning of December.

Anyway, I've been lurking around this forum for a couple of weeks so thought I should join up so I can participate and also thank the users for the wonderful recipes I've been trying.  And maybe even post a few of my own!!

Jess :)
