Chit Chat / Re: Are there any backyard veggie gardeners here?
« on: September 22, 2012, 10:36:11 am »
I love my veggie garden although I call it a kitchen garden because its as much about herbs and fruit as veggies. It feeds my husband and I for most of our veggies, and I'm really looking forward to berries this summer. I have loganberry, boysenberry, raspberry, blueberries, gooseberry and of course strawberries. Six months ago it was all lawn- just a suburban backyard.

I have made both errors, half cooked chicken (whole chicken ) and coleslaw mush. Both errors in the 1st month (plus some more) but pretty fool proof now :-) It is just a new way of doing everything. My husband has forgotten the early disasters I'm sure.

Thanks guys, I'm going to experiment :-) one jar I'll add jam setter, the other I may add bannana (I've seen a recipe for bannana and pineapple jam) so I'll try both ways and see which one works best. I'll let you know :-).

and I solved my silmat problem which was really a difficulty getting it dry, rather than washing. I hung it over the oven thingy I normally hang the tea towells :-/  not so hard really.

Chit Chat / Jam didn't set.
« on: September 09, 2012, 02:02:21 am »
Hi every one, beautiful Sunday morning in Perth ;-) I made pineapple jam the other night, tastes lovely but didn't set. I was my first go at Jam so not that surprised. Should I a)add pectin and cook it again, b) cook it for longer c) throw it out d) something else?
Also why I have you :-) how do people clean their Thermomix silpat mat?, its quite unwieldy I find :-)  wondering how others do it?
thank you, now that I've broken the ice I probably be on all the time with questions questions questions :-)

Chit Chat / Re: How to save recipes I like on the forum

I love Paprika. sometimes you just have to "hit save recipe" and it fits in into the right sections (ingredients, methods etc.) - not from this forum though :-/  . I have nearly all my own photo's and can group them into my own categories, oh and it doesn't shut it self down when your cooking!

definitely a Thermo Junkie! between my I pad (with paprika) and Thermie I rarely make the same meal twice and they are nearly always fantastic (my husband has never had it so good).

Hello all, I've been hanging around for some time now, and I thought I'd stop sitting on the sidelines and jump in :-)
I have had Thermie for about six months and it has revolutionized the way I eat, cook, and shop. Away with the preservatives and meals in a jar, hello fresh produce and clean fresh flavors. I use Thermie daily and have cooked so many interesting things that I would probably never had tried pre Thermie. I am a Thermomix tragic and are happily the but of light hearted jesting at work about my obsession with this "power tool for the kitchen" vroom vroom. :-)
