Hi everybody, It's been quite a while since I visited this forum. I am still cooking up a storm with my Thermomix, still going strong after 3,5 years. 3 years ago I started my own blog, in Dutch, since the Thermomix is not (yet? hopefully) very popular in Holland. I am the only one in Holland with a blog on Thermomix....so lonely..... Recently I started to translate a number of the recipes on my blog in English. Not the recipes that can be found in other blogs, or 'basic' recipes that can be found anywhere, but recipes of traditional Dutch and German dishes, or recipes that I found somewhere on the internet and converted into a Thermomix recipe. My blog can be found at www.thermomixrecepten.com/recipes-in-English, or you can find me on Facebook as Jax Thermomix Recipes. I hope you will all like my effort to translate the recipes on my blog. Currently there are only three recipes, but I add more every day. My latest recipe is Salted Chocolate-Espresso Brookies (Brownie Cookies). It was difficult to resist the urge to empty the cookie jar all at once....... Could you please give me feedback on my blog, since I don't know if I actually add something to the English-speaking Thermomix Community with my blog? Thank you!! By Jacqie

We really like it, even DS loves it. And he is not too keen on trying new things...

This recipe originates from the German Thermomix forum and is lovely, so I thought I would share it with you all. Ingredients: 4 small turkey or chicken schnitzels, or chicken breast 2 onions 400 gr red/green capsicum 4 sweet/sour gherkins 4 pieces prosciutto or ham 4 pieces of cheese Salt/pepper 750 g water 400 g rice For sauce 70'g tomato puree 250 g water or cooking fluid 1 TS paprika 20 g cream 1 TS vegetable stock concentrate 1-2 tbs flour Cut onions and capsicum in big pieces (I don't use Thermie here, since it will cut it up too finely). Cut gherkins in pieces. Put onions, gherkins and capsicum in bottom part of Varoma. Line the top part of the Varoma with wet baking paper. Put salt/pepper to taste on the meat. Put piece of ham on top of meat and cheese on top of that. Rice in the basket, rinse. 750 g water in . Put rice basket in , Varoma on top. 25 minutes, Varoma temperature. After 15 to 20 minutes check rice and take that out if cooked. Keep it warm (unfortunately we do not have Thermoserver in Holland). After 25 minutes take Varoma from jug. Keep 250 g from cooking liquid, put that in with rest of sauce ingredients. Heat 3 minutes 100 degrees speed 4. After three minutes add veggies from Varoma to sauce and cook for 1 minute 100 degrees, 1 or 2. Enjoy!

Yay! Congratulations! Had to chuckle at that remark 'grandchildren are our reward for not strangling our teenagers'. (un)fortunately I am still at the not-strangling stage.......I have a thirteen-year old who has just hit full-blown puberty.

This is a lovely salsa (or chutney....looks more like a chutney to me...) that goes well with Asian dishes. You can keep this for plm six months. Ingredients: 1 big ripe pineapple 2 red onions 5 cm ginger, sliced in " coins " 2 red peppers 2 cloves of garlic Coriander, small bunch, leaves and stems separate 225 gr raw sugar (or caster sugar) 225 ml white wine vinegar Juice of 3 limes 2 tbs fish sauce 1ts soy sauce Put garlic, pepper, coriander stems, onions and ginger in bowl. 3 seconds speed 5. Add rest of ingredients, except for coriander leaves. 60 minutes, 100 degrees. , until bit syrupy. If not syrupy, add cooking time. When salsa is finished, add coriander leaves. Put salsa in sterilised jars. Enjoy!

Thanks Twitterpated, will do. Gnocchi are quite hard to make, they seem so simple. But our meal last Monday was very tasty, even though the gnocchi were not that fluffy!

Mine weren't that fluffy, but you can always make your gnocchi your own way (and can you tell me your way exactly? I am still trying to master the art of making gnocchi.....). I actually mentioned this recipe here because the sauce is delicious.

Welcome to the forum. I so enjoyed the story about MrH getting interested in the Thermomix. My husband loves the Thermomix as well, he has started cooking as well. He watches cooking shows with me and all.....
Let us know what your first meal was and how it turned out!

Welcome on the forum! I hope your Thermomix will arrive soon. Although the anticipation is nice as well, reading about it, butterflies in your stomach, buying all sorts of new things! The contents of my kitchen cupboard have completely changed since I've had my Thermomix. New kinds of sugar, caster sugar in the bin and replaced by raw sugar, new spices with names I had never even heard of before.....glass jars for chutney, jam, ketchup. All sorts of flour......I still love it!! New cookbooks, cooking magazines.....I-pad for reading cooking blogs and cooking recipes. The Thermomix allows you to cook cheap and cheerful, but unfortunately I spend the money I save from cooking with the Thermomix on all sorts of other stuff........ Enjoy!!! Let us know how your first cooked meals turn out!!
