Main Dishes / Re: Varoma steamed Corned Beef
« on: October 10, 2014, 12:49:16 pm »
Yesterday cooked 1kg silverside in the Varoma.  Last 30 mins added a couple of potatoes and two carrots (I live alone).  Turned out beautifully.  Will certainly be doing it again   :)

Hey Dan. Welcome to the group. I'm another bloke on here who has just got a TM.  I've been cooking a few recipes and have had some problems......all fixed by the lovely people you will find here.
I've just cooked corned silverside thanks to JD and her recipe and a mustard sauce courtesy of another member.  So get in there put your TM on the bench and get cooking  :) :) :)

Cheers

Bob

Excuse my ignorance.....I've just been reading the recipe again and I note that it does not give the quantity of salt.  Can you advise me please?  ???

After two sad failures making bread according to the EDC and reading all these posts about the "very normal bread" I'm going to try my hand in next couple of days.  I hope they turn out like everyone says  :) :)

Yep I thought 1000 green onions sounded rather much. Would have emptied the vege bin at the store  :) I used one brown onion and about 300g of green onions.  Put half and half at each of the cooking times.

Great   :) Found the review and your message.  Have replied to that.  Must be getting the hang of all this posting etc  ;D ;D

Yep JD I bought the ribs from Coles and they were the same type as the American.  The TMX did have some problems with the bones and I had to push up the speed occasionally to 1.  I might try this again with pork pieces instead of ribs.  The sauce is fantastic and finger licking good (excuse the pun).

JD I did as you said and gave a review of the recipe and posted it.....but it doesn't seem to be on the subject page. :(   I think it must be somewhere else.....but where?? :D

I decided to try this recipe from the "The best of our Recipe Communities" book.  The recipe is on page 92 of that book. The only alteration I made to the recipe was to substitute a brown onion for some of the green onions.  The rest of the recipe was as printed.  The ribs were yummy and although the recipe said it was 3 portions I have to admit that I ate the lot :) :) :)

Oh and oops, forgot to mention...I threw in a handful of frozen peas during the last ten minutes of cooking.

Thanks JD.  Yep it is the recipe on page 92 of that book.  I will try to carry out the tips you gave me.  Everything is quite new to me about posting messages etc.
