Bread / Re: Kneading soudough in the TM
« on: July 12, 2010, 05:03:17 am »
I am one of the recipients of Ceejay's San Fran starter... well, ahem, she tried a few times and I kept letting it die! I have only made pikelets so far but came here to look for a bread recipe... too late for today but will get the starter active for later and bake tomorrow! Mmmmm...

Wish me luck for the next step!  :D

Yes Cookie  ;) LOL it does make sense... it is one of those slices that is better with age too... I don't think it would be a favourite around here but it is still nice.

I may get inspiration on here for tonight's meal, but last night I made the ragu sauce served with steamed veges (derrr... I could have used the varoma!) and mashed potatoes. I'm not sure that the family was impressed by the mash. Maybe I overdid them as they seemed very... errrm, false? plasticy? I'll keep experimenting... it could be that I need a different type of potato... maybe one that is less waxy, more floury???

I'm having a demo on Sunday using the Varoma so that will be good.

Thermomixer... how sweet was the cake? I am thinking of trying this with a greatly reduced amount of sugar (as much as I am addicted to/love sugar I know I need to reduce the amount I have).

How much do you think the texture would be affected?

LOL at the start of a cake not being finished... and that is with a TM!!!  :o

Mmmm... not too sure about this recipe... I dunno if I baked it long enough. Is it supposed to be a doughy cakey texture? I think it may not have been sweet enough for the kids 'cos we'd only had a choc slice (that was toooo sweet) a few days before.

the recipe will be a regular.
And so I may just go back to drinking alcohol after years of having very little... (gestating and breastfeeding does that to you!)

Another thing to add to my list to try out (being a newbie to actually owning a machine)... I have some great recipe books for bread. Now to go and experiment! Maybe after I have tried some recipes from here.

That's a rather entertaining intro!

I met my husband whilst living in London... he's originally a Brisvegan and I'm a kiwi...

Will make sure my butterfly flies slowly and never trust a removalist...  ;D

Recipe Requests / Sweets (eg fudge)

I have had a look through what I think is the appropriate sections but cannot find a recipe for fudge or coconut ice or the like.

Is it possible to make fudge in a TM and if so, do we have a recipe on this forum? Oh yeah... must go and use the search function, hey?  ;)
