Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Model upgrade
« on: September 13, 2014, 08:15:15 am »
Thanks everyone.
MyTM31 was purchased about 4-5 yrs ago and I use it quite regularly.
Sometimes when things don't appear to get chopped up well, I thought it was because there was too little produce in the bowl and it goes up the sides therefore missing the blades. Or is that more likely the blades?
I struggled making a Thai green curry paste the other day  - the ingredients just wouldn't get chopped up and whiz into a paste properly.

I am assuming to have the blades sharpened I should have a professional knife sharpener do that for me?

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Model upgrade
« on: September 13, 2014, 03:34:16 am »
Hi, I have the TM31. Given a new model has been released, and TM31 is no longer being sold, does this mean I cannot get parts as required?
I recently had to purchase a new lid seal. Whilst on the phone I was told that in the future I will need to purchase a new blade because they eventually go blunt.
I asked how long they last and could not get an answer. Was told it depends on usage and that "you will just know when the blade needs replacing."
I was told by my Thermomix consultant that as long as I put ice in the bowl and crush it, the blades will stay sharp. But the person on the phone (when I had to get a lid seal) told me that is an urban myth.
I rechecked with my consultant who assured me that is what consultants are told to tell their customers.
So which is it? Can anyone assist. Is it a waste of time to put ice in the bowl and crush?
Do I need to replace the blade eventually? How long should they last? Are there any other parts that will need replacing in the future?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Sam

Raw Recipes / Re: Chocolate Mousse Tart

This is awesome.
Thank you!!
I did run out of agave, so had to add honey to complete the sweetness, hence turning it into non vegan.
Never the less it still tastes great.
I made it into a slice for bite size pieces.Great with coffee.
The filling didn't set well in fridge for the slice, so I think next time I will add some coconut oil to the filling so it sets better, and less messy to eat. But putting in freezer works well to set and slice when slightly thawed.
I have sliced up and put into containers in freezer for an easy sweet treat.

PS sorry about the pic on the side!!  Can't figure out how to rotate it on this site. It was the right way up on my iPad!!!
Ahh. Modern technology!!

Soups / Re: Spring Onion Zucchini Soup (with photo)
« on: May 24, 2014, 11:01:09 am »
My feedback;
I made this tonight and found the soup on its own prior to adding onion/oil mix quite bland.
I used flat leaf parsley and it was a bit too much for my taste. I think next time I will use a bit less parsley.
I did use pumpkin instead of potato because that is what I had on hand.
I think using potato would give it more body than what I experienced because of the starch.
I think next time I will try more veg concentrate, and maybe add some garlic and chilli.
Zucchini is quite a bland vegetable so needs a bit of oomph!!
I enjoyed the zing the spring onion provided.

Thanks for this recipe.
I have never been able to successfully make a decent icing!!
This was awesome.
I froze the left overs - so will see how that goes when thawing for the next cake.

I made this cake last week - I was the dill who thought FF was farenheit!!
AnyHoo, I found the cake quite bitter and a little bit dry.
But each to their own and maybe the oranges I used were not that great??  Although they were home grown from a friend's tree that are always lovely.  Maybe next time I wouldn't use the pips or the zest.  Something to think about.

Oh thank you!!!!!
I feel like such a dummy   :-\
I never thought of that.  I have never had a fan forced oven.
I have had it in the oven for about 50 mins on 250 oF and thought it was going to be a long process!!!!
I have now turned up the temp. so hopefully it will be ok?!?!

Thanks Chelsea.

I have currently got this cake in the oven.
My only concern is that the lowest temp on my farenheit oven is 250.
I will see how it goes - check on it as need be.
Am I right in understanding the recipe says 170 farenheit?
