I don't post a lot but I lurk around quite a bit...... I must say hi from time to time!

I love all the Kitchen pics, I will take a pic of mine over the weekend and post it for all to see.

My forum name, simple really, I am left handed so 'southpaw' it is.  Sometimes its SouthPawShaz which is just left handed Sharon  :D

I had my Varoma demo recently (so that I could take advantage of the 1/2 price bowl offer) and my consultant got frustrated that she had to fiddle with the lid to get the dial to turn.  She said there is a well known fault with lids that have the Number 2 on them and that they should be replaced if there is a problem....... I wish I knew it wasn't normal to have to keep 'adjusting' the position of the lid before now!  But on the up side, hopefully the new lid will arrive soon!

Desserts / Re: SALTED CARAMEL MAPLE ICE CREAM

This is the absolute best icecream I have ever tasted!  It is so popular in my house, I have to make 2 batches each time so that we never run out!  I agree with everyone else it is definitely TDF!

Chit Chat / Re: iphone, ipad, iPod touch App launch

I downloaded the app and have found it to be quite good.

I don't have the MWOC book so I have found it useful particularly when people on the forum refer to a recipe from MWOC, I can just look it up and make it based on the reviews from this forum.

I have to say that I agree that this forum is the best place to get ideas, reviews, recipes and support and I have made more things from recipes on here than I have made from any of the books I own, but the app is just an additional resource (that also costs a lot less than the book..and takes up less space)

Just my 2 cents worth

Breakfast / Re: faffa's Yoghurt
« on: September 11, 2011, 07:17:54 am »
For those of us without a yoghurt maker, if you wrap the bowl of unset yoghurt in a blanket and leave it on the bench overnight, it will be set in the morning... this works in any metal bowl (at least I have had success with it).

Also for the temperature, as the human body temperature is 37degrees, if you put your little finger in the mixture and it feels neither warm or cold, it will be the exact temperature you need to mix the culture into.

I was given these tips by an Indian friend of mine that has been making yoghurt all his life and I haven't had a failure yet.......and this was pre TMX days too  :)

I am curious about the second bowl and spatula deal in the first 3 months..... can someone please explain this.....and does it apply in Australia??

I am keen to get another bowl 'cos I am sick of washing mine half a dozen times a day!

Thanks in advance  :) :)

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Re: Recipe Review-Sticky Date Pudding

These are just delightful....... everyone in my house just loved them and gave them 10/10.  I did what others have suggested and left the sauce to cool a little so it would thicken, and they were divine!
