That a great help thanks to all of you for your kind responses  - at least now I know where I am going wrong, my worry was I had maybe brought the wolds most expensive baby food maker !!

Onwards and upwards then to further experiments - was reading a recipe at the weekend in one of the UK papers for a sorbet made with Courgette / Lime and Mint - sounds interesting !!

Thanks
Mark from sunny London !!

New owner here and also male (so OK  I probably haven't read the manual correctly !!)  - i love my new TMX but have a major problem as every time I make anything that requires some texture I end up with mush and soup

Initially I though it was as i was chopping the initial veggies to much but i suddenly realized that when the speed is running it is  ALWAYS cutting the sharp edge of the blade through the contents - but it I run it a reverse speed soft the blunt side of the blade wont mash up all my food - is this correct ??

I made bolognese sauce and ended up with soup  - courgettes / tomatoes / Peppers all mulched to nothing  - tasted nice but was like baby food puree !!

So in conclusion if you dont want you food mashed up do you always run reverse speed and slow  - any tips anyone could give me ??

Many Thanks
Mark from London

Sorry me again just so say two weeks on and I wanted to post some thoughts, especially as it's my (**th !) birthday today and the TMX was a generous present from my wonderful wife.

I have Used the TMX most days made sortbet (several time) and wonderful bolognese sauce, I must learn also NOT to run the speed tooo fast as I tried to make a sausage casserole and ended up with soup !!

The EDC recipe says add water to Zabaglione ??  - dreadful mistake - I threw it away  - what a waste of Marsala !!

Last night unpacked the Varoma for the 1st time - made Holllandaise for the 1st time EVER (amazing) and steamed Cauliflower and alaskan salmon  - all was wonderful and no washing up - I made raspberry sorbet to finish as well !!

Going to try a Birthday cake today !!

My last introduction post here  - and again my sincere thanks to all for the friendly and helpful welcome...

TMX arrived Tuesday and has been used every day since  - last night made a Ragu sauce with what was in the fridge, assorted veggies + beef mince - we couldn't believe how QUICK it was and also considering how little went into it how FANTASTIC it tasted  - better than anything I would have made on the hob..

I only have one question does the VAROMA button JUST provide max heat and steam and if you dont want max heat and steam you just use the separate temp buttons - so you dont use VAROMA in tandem with the temp buttons ??

A genuinely life changing kitchen machine in my house  - cooking will never be the same again !

Have a great weekend all !

Good Morning and thanks to all of you for such a warm and effusive welcome, delighted to be among such a wonderful group TMX enthusiasts !!

rushed home last night and collected HUGE vorwerk box, unpacked it and stood back and sighed with great pleasure and excitement  - looks amazing on the counter top

We started off slow with a gimme as a 1st experiment  - (you guessed it ) sorbet !!

Frozen strawberries, slices of lime and Cinnamon sugar and  - hey presto, sorbet in 5 mins AND on a Tuesday after"skool" as well  - unbelievable - I am still terrified by the noise it makes doing this but seems as though the machine has the "grunt" to work through the crunching all OK ??

Tonight I have a pile of organic courgettes in the fridge so thought I would attempt to make a spicy tomato sauce in the TMX with some "sumac" and maybe some jerk sauce and then separately saute some sliced / chopped (?)  courgettes in the TMX and then chuck the sauce back in with the courgettes to cook until soft and "gloopy" and then serve under some oven roasted pork shoulder slices I have defrosting, I also have some dried crispy bacon that I was going to blitz up to sprinkle on top  - sounds feasible ???

Snorkychopper ?? - aahhh its long and forgotten story between my wonderful wife and I but its my standard ebay / forum name so I am stuck with as I brought the domain also !!

Mid July in London and it cold and dark  - came to work in a raincoat - madness !!

Dear ALL

This is Mark writing from a gloomy day in London  - brightened up by waiting for delivery today of my Thermomix !!

Its something I have seen on countless UK cookery shows and I always wondered "what is that odd looking machine on the counter top ?"

After much research I identified the machine did some research and tracked down my local agent (who ironically lives only a few hundred yards from me in Canary Wharf !) my wife and I were blown away by the functionality and versatility of the TMX

Already planning what to have for supper later - looking to this forum to help me with any problems I might have and wonderful recipes for when I crawl home after work and want something amazing !

We brought the Australian recipe book as well - 1st on the list has to be frozen Margaritas ?????

Thanks
Mark
