Warped bowl!
«

I just made some buttermilk rolls in my thermi and now the lid won't go back on! The top right hand side of the bowl looks warped but all was fine before I made the rolls. I did get interrupted and had to feed bubs after making the dough so left to prove in there. Help!

Hi Thermie crew. Sorry to hear your bowl is misbehaving. Just phone your consultant. He/she will come and check it out for you, asap.

That definitely shouldn't happen. If it is a newish TM bowl then you should probably get a replacement bowl.

Thermie crew I often leave my dough to prove in bowl and it hasn't warped. Ring your consultant as others have said. Good luck

Your 2 years isn't up yet is it TC so get onto it and have it seen to whilst it's still under warranty. Many of us leave the dough to rise in the TM bowl so it couldn't possibly be that.

Is it the lid or the bowl?

Proving dough wouldn't have been the reason. Are you sure it's not the seal on the lid misbehaving? Is the lid loose or just not locking at all?

This was a 'user default'!! I rang my consultant as suggested and talked through what I did with the bowl in between proving the dough and putting it back in the machine to clean it. I then remembered with horror that the dough was so stuck that I banged the bowl to get it out!! (clearly not thinking clearly at the time
) Not excessively hard but I did bang it straight onto the metal tray I was going to cook the rolls on
. It had buckled just enough for the lid to not go on properly at the side. Eek! The unofficial suggestion I got was to gently flatten out the kink with a tea towel (to protect it) and a pair of pliers. So my thermie bowl is not as perfect as it used to be but horray, it works!
A lesson to all out there, never bang your bowl!!
Not a good week. My slow cooker bowl also cracked! Now I'm getting a complex!

Well the good thing is you can still use the bowl now, and you have taught everyone what not to do
Did you read that you can buy a second bowl and blade set for half price next month if you host a demo?

Ah ha, the culprit was you thermie crew - isn't it funny how we can re-live a moment in time and it all comes back to us. Just that little bang did the damage. Pleased that you were able to do the repair job yourself and a give a lesson to everyone about what not to do when you can't get your dough out easily. If mine is difficult to get out of the bowl, I just upend the bowl, remove the base and it then just falls out onto the silpat mat with the blades firmly attached to the dough

Dear thermie crew, All's well that ends well. I'm wondering about how you routinely get the dough out of the bowl. Are you turning it upside down and twiddling the bottom of the blade unit manually, until the dough plops out onto the Thermomat? That's how we were taught to do it. It may not be the ony way, but it works for me. Good luck with your baking now that you have your thermie back.

Thermie crew that is horrid. My DD droppped my bowl and it landed on her foot. Nothing hard at all and it dented the bowl. We tried to straighten it and although it still works it is rather hard to put the lid on. I ended up buying another bowl and rarely use the first one now.
It's wise to not even tap a spoon on the edge of a bowl, they are very precious.
I'm glad you discovered what did it.
