I made a trifle today with some left over TMX sponge cake and made raspberry jelly from a packet to go on top of the custard. I haven't eaten jelly for years other than on top of trifle and I happened to lick the fork after I broke it up.
YUK! It had a nasty chemical flavour.
Next time, I'll be using some berries from the freezer and making my own jelly with gelatine sheets. Has anyone done this?

I made jelly using the recipe from RC and found it pulpy and not sweet enough. The family weren't keen at all.

Thanks Judy and Chelsea. Yes, I can see that the RC recipe isn't sieved, so it wouldn't quite be jelly as I know it.
I was thinking along the lines of using the berry cordial recipe and reducing the sugar. I prefer to use gelatine sheets rather than powdered gelatine as they have no flavour at all.

There is a really great jelly recipe and I think it is from In The Mix
will check and let you know. I haven't made them but have eaten them

CC, that is exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you. I've copied the Raspberry and Orange Jellies and also her Savoiardi Biscuit Recipe.
I shall make sure that I leave a comment when I make the jelly.
Faffa, I haven't found a jelly recipe in ITM...

I'm making the Raspberry Jelly from the link CC gave. It's looking lovely. Does take a bit of time, though with the draining. You can't force it through or the jelly won't be clear.
I used to love jelly too! I guess my palate has changed since I've been making all the products that I used to buy.

Thanks deedub! I've printed it off.
My Raspberry Jelly was absolutely delicious. I'll never use bought jelly crystals again.
And to think, I used to sneak a spit coated finger into the packets and hope Mum didn't notice...
