Risotto and Butterfly?

Hi All,

Just a quick question -

I am planning on making Risotto tonight but with diced Pumpkin rather than the Mushroom in EDC. 
Can I still use the butterfly attachment when I have chunks of Pumpkin in there, or will the blades be better?  What difference does the Butterfly make anyway?

Sorry for all of the tedious questions, I am a confused newbie!

Yes you can a small dice is best say 1.5cm. The butterfly helps it to stir and I think gives it a creamier result :) good luck! If you don't have your thermoserver then when finished cooking, you can remove the butterfly stir the cheese through with the spatula and leave it in the Tm bowl for the 5 minutes then serve :)

Just a thought - We enjoy a risotto with  roast pumpkin and fetta - I cut up the pumpkin (usually a butternut) into smallish cubes. coat it lightly with olive oil and add a little freshly ground black pepper and then roast it.  Make the risotto as usual, put into thermoserver (or other serving bowl)and then just stir in the roasted pumpkin and cubed fetta . . .

Have friends who had a cafe.  The pumpkin risotto was the most favoured recipe in the menu.

GF baked pumpkin sounds delicious - will try that next time when I am not trying to do a one-pot rush meal like tonight!

I used to do the roast pumpkin but I usually do raw if in a hurry ;)

Well I made this tonight (took nearly an hour start to finish being my first TMX dish!) but the butterfly fell off half way through cooking!?

I made sure it was pressed down really tight when I put it in - any hints as to cooking with Butterfly?

The Pumpkin chunks were no bigger than half an ice cube either, they were probably 1.5-2cm squares?

Thanks in advance for any advice.  It's all so new and confusing (and didn't help having a starving 2.5 year old at my feet!).

Your butterfly needs to go in the smallest gap between the blades. So look for the Thermomix blade symbol on your butterfly and the same symbol on the highest blade. They need to be kissing/facing each other when the butterfly is in. Also if it pops out when cooking (still happens to me sometimes) just push it back in  ;) you'll get there.

I love the risotto dish in EDCbut I find it is not enough for our family, so I do similar to some of these suggestions.  I roast the pumpkin or sweet potatoes, add some bacon or chicken  to the roasting pan and anything else I have around I want to add. I make the risotto as per the EDc then combine it all in thermoserver.   I find doing it this way makes it feed five.
