Ingredients:

4 vanilla pods, scratch out the seeds, keep the pods
200 ml water
200 g sugar
1 pinch of citric acid

Preparation:

    * Put all the ingredients into the TM and cook for 10 mins at 100C, speed 2.
    * Leave to cool for 30 mins, then filter through a cloth.
    * Clean the TM, pour in the filtered syrup, and boil briefly at 100C.
    * If you want the syrup to be a little thicker, simply boil on Varoma for a few minutes more without the MC.
    * Fill into bottles/jars.

Is this like that expensive vanilla paste you can buy? Love that stuff!

Ooh I love vanilla..

Now let me make sure I read this right, you use the pods in this recipe? And the seeds in the spice mix for pumpkin? ;)

Sounds more like the syrup we used to use in our deli to make vanilla malted milkshakes. Similar to Cottees chocolate & strawberry topping.

Sounds like the seeds are used to me - but why not do the seeds with the pumpkin and pods here - it is filtered!!!

I wasn't sure if it was lost in translation or not... I guess I can always try it both ways (oh no, too much vanilla syrup! Like there is such a thing)

I think we leave out the vanilla pods, just the scraped seeds go in.

The vanilla pods can be put in a jar with vodka in a dark pantry, shaken once a week and in three months you'd have vanilla extract :)
