Festive Flavour - Wicked Chocolate Fudge

Wicked Chocolate Fudge
p 37

It wasn't until after I made this that I realised it wasn't really fudge, but more like a hedgehog slice! It was pretty tasty but with all the nuts and dried fruit quite pricey to put together. I also think I'd try and use eating chocolate next time, it just tastes better than the cooking version.

The chopping times and speeds didn't really work either, my nuts and fruit were still whole! I had to do a little extra!

That said, the "fudge" set really quickly and looked really pretty when cut. It tasted pretty good too!

4/5

Thanks for the hint re the chocolate. I tend to buy Londt when it is on special and use that most of the time.

I have salted pistachios. Do you think they would work or is it possible to buy unsalted?
Thanks :)

Hmm I'm not sure. I spose it depends on how salty they are! I reckon if you used eating chocolate it might make it a bit sweeter. Let us know how it goes.

Sometimes when I only have salted nuts and need unsalted I give them a good rub with a tea towel and that removes a lot of the salt.

Yeh that might would work  Cookie, I was going to say rinse them and toast them dry in the oven or frypan.

Thanks for the advice :)

Aft reading more about I being more hedgehog / chewy texture I opted not to make because I'd end up being only one eating it!! (DH likes softer)

However, I had a look at supermarket today and saw unsalted pistachios are available so when I find some ppl to share this with I will buy those (my salted pack was a freebie - love pistachios, but not something I usually buy $$)

Like your ideas - will keep in mind with other nuts too, cos I often buy salted
