TONKA BEANS - please be careful
« on: December 17, 2012, 12:20:27 am »

There are many foods with which you have to be careful, e.g., certain ones are toxic if raw, but ok if cooked properly;  some have roots that are ok but the leaves are toxic.  Tonka beans come into this category too -

Please be careful with them . . . must be treated with a lot of respect and care . . .

Tenina has 1-2 recipes in FFS that have a tonka bean included (perhaps as an option?)  think I can recall her saying everything in moderation, and only if you want to include as she did warn of its toxic qualities
