Scary
« on: March 26, 2013, 06:27:07 am »
I was reading today on  an article, and I was sad. :-\

http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/food-editor-jana-frawleys-top-50-supermarket-food-products/story-fneuz8wn-1226605469742

Sad that this lady thought it was good to buy packet mixes to bake, herb mixtures, bottled sauces, ice creams, yoghurts, ice blocks, cordials, relishes, lasange sheets, bread, bought grated cheese..

we make all these with our thermys,  Just shows you how much we can make with these machines, and how much we can save $$$

Maybe I am crazy, but just shows you how much I make in my thermy things, and not bought in boxes, or jars. :D
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I wonder how she'd feel about a letter to the editor, Obbie - you're right - it IS scary!! (especially when you add up all the additives - so to speak!!)

Yes Obbie I read that too.  Thinking I don't buy, that I don't buy that.

I find it shocking in this day of trans fats that anyone would buy biscuits or cakes. They are so easy to make, even by hand. The kids could do it.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

She mustn't have a Thermomix.
I have a Facebook page with all things cooking, you'll find it here: https://www.facebook.com/What-Amber-Ate-1097437023601587/

That's strange. I'm sure I saw that article but it was 25 things not 50 ???

Definitely write to the editor and suggest a feature article with your top 50!
Or try another magazine or paper.
The 'hook' is this  original article. They have to fill the pages somehow.

I think you are spot on Jo.

To be fair she did say that it didn't include all the fresh fruit, veg, chicken and meats she bought but for a foodie to buy so much pre packaged food is a bit of a shock. I don't blame her for getting her bread from The Bourke St Bakery, it's just the best.

I love that book, even to just sit and read.

Yeah, and once you take out those, what would you put in?  Whittakers chocolate, Marmite and Pics Peanut Butter are all I can personally think of for my branded favourites.
