Information on cereals, grains, etc.
« on: April 17, 2013, 04:25:41 am »
This article about different grains, i.e. chia, quinoa, buckwheat, kamut, etc. was in the paper this morning.  I found it quite interesting as I am starting to use some of these grains without necessarily knowing a great deal about them.  Hope some of you find it useful as well

Yvette, whenever I cook rice in the TMX basket, I always cook quinoa with it (50/50 combination rice / quinoa) without any problems, so I see no reason why it would not cook equally as well in a rice cooker - either the combination or simply quinoa alone.

I really like quinoa. I have some kamut flour I had given to me. I'll pop it into some bread I think.

Ive posted a recipe using Quinoa, rice and wild rice.  It is a nice mix.  Think Tenina has posted a recipe for cooking Quinoa in the basket.

Thanks for the link, I remember that recipe now - in fact, I see I even made a comment on that thread!  I really must give this one a go.
