Wholemeal Cinnamon Cookies : QFEO Page 73
« on: September 22, 2013, 08:54:51 am »
Made these for the boys today.  I followed the recipe but used whole meal spelt flour and they turned out lovely.  They are not overly sweet so perfect for the kids.  Boys love them so will definitely be making them again.

Of course because I've got boys the heart shape was out but I did get to use my new cookie stamp!

Made these today and they are lovely and as snappy said, not too sweet. Dough was easy to make, but I found it very hard to work with. I used butter straight from the fridge, but still found the dough stuck to the baking paper when rolled. Next time I will make two discs and refrigerate dough before rolling. Lovely biscuit, worth the fiddling around.

I've made these biscuits twice now.  My DD's loved the cinnamon ones and yesterday I made two batches - one cinnamon and one vanilla.  The recipe is very simple and it is best to place the mixture in the fridge for a little while.  It makes it easier to work with.  Love this recipe Alyce.

I've just bought some cookie stamps so this looks like the perfect recipe to try them on.

This was indeed not too sweet. But mine turned out dry. I wonder if it's because it's the wholemeal flour? I put it in the oven for 16 mins.

These biscuits are really moorish. My husband says they remind him of the smell of the cookie shop in the old Myer building in Melbourne.
I made the vanilla version (her variation at the bottom of the page with a whole vanilla bean). Was very happy with them. Not overly sweet, but just a good biscuit to curb a sweet craving or to have with a cuppa!

Will try the cinnamon version soon too!

I need to make some biscuits today, even though it is hot. I will check this recipe out. It sounds delicious, thanks for the review. I have so much I want to make and not enough time or people to eat it.

ooh I forgot to mention, it was a hot day when I made them, so i wrapped the dough in glad wrap and refrigerated for an hour before rolling out.

And I also used mostly wholemeal spelt flour but didn't quite have enough so had to top up with white spelt flour.

A nice bickkie! :)
