JD there's an Asian warehouse near the corner of Port Road and Findon Road (behind Barnacle Bills) that has this type of Palm Sugar.  I can get you some next time I'm there if you like.

The warehouse is huge and they have everything you want in there, and more!
Next time I'm around that way I'll pop in, I could probably use some more palm sugar myself too.

You certainly seem to know all the places to go Katie  ;)  I tend to drive past them thinking 'I must go in there one day'  :-))  Have you ever been to the one just up the road from the new Spotlight store on the Port Road?

Yes I have been to that that Asian supermarket Judy.  It's probably my favourite Asian store.  It's really big, cheap and very clean.  They have almost everything you could need in there as well (although they don't have the palm sugar I like or toasted sesame oil). 

When my sister was here from Broken Hill in June she went to a few of the Asian stores in and around the Central Market.  She couldn't get everything she needed, but she managed to find what she wanted at the Asian supermarket.

I'm not sure Judy.

I did read an article about one stall-holder in the market having to close.  He had been having an argument with the council for years.  His stall had Asian vegetables and herbs for sale outside the store, in the walkway.  I think the council wouldn't renew his lease unless he moved everything from the walkway back inside the stall.   I'm pretty sure it went to the Supreme Court and the council won.  I'm not sure if any other stores are closing.  I don't get to the market as often as I would like.

Loved :) this recipe and so did my hard to please daughter.... this will definitely be a regular.  Didn't have any broccolini so just used broccoli

This is a nice easy recipe but we found it not at all spicy after removing the seeds from the chillies as the recipe instructs, next time will leave them in.

Good idea, I liked mine without the seeds but may be worthwhile heating it up to see what the diff is

I made this tonight, and it was delicious.

I wasn't sure whether to steam the chicken breasts whole or to cut them up, so diced them. (If I had read the recipe properly, I would have seen that it did specify to slice them after they were cooked.  :-)))

I also used broccoli rather than broccolini. I used home grown chillies, so wasn't sure how spicy it would be. I used one fresh bird's eye, and one dried, and discarded half the seeds from the fresh one. Next time I will leave them in. I will also reduce the sugar next time as it was just a touch sweet.

It's quite a dry dish, I would like to increase the amount of sauce next time, but I'm not sure of the best way to do that.

I can see this being made over and over, and is one I'll keep in mind if we have guests.
