Broken blades
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:03:54 am »
We have two bowls and two blades and have had our thermie for about a year and a half. We use it at least once daily to do everything from juices to soups, cake mixing to making dinner. A couple of months ago, our first set of blades died. The blades remained stationary while the rest of the blade unit rotated as normal. Our consultant replaced the blades as it was still under warranty, but now our other set of blades has suffered the same fate.  :( Has anyone else had similar problems or have and blade saving tips? Thanks!

I wonder if you maybe overloading the Thermomix. I think this may put a strain on the blades and ultimately break them.
It is well worth following the amounts in the recipes. Just a thought!

I agree with Bootobethin it sounds as though you are stripping our blades. Here is a topic about the problem.

Thanks guys. I follow recipes to the letter and always stick to the suggested quantity. Plus I always make sure I chop up hard stuff, like cheese and hard veggies before I put them in. I do use a few ice cubes in our juice, but the jug is no way overloaded. The thread is really interesting though, and definitely food for thought! Let's see what HO say!  :)

I had this happen a few months ago and it was a result of over loading the machine. Good luck with head office.

Maybe they need to check out the machine Sam, did they just replace the blades without doing that?  If you've had 2 sets of blades go, there is obviously a problem with the machine.

Such a worry, Judy. I just can't be without my machine! Waiting to hear what the consultant says. Is there such a thing as overusing (not overloading) the thermie?!

I hope not. Mine goes a heck of a lot each day.

Sam I hope you get this sorted out. It must be very annoying. I think CP has had the same thing happen several times.  :'(

Good Luck. I have gone through 1 lot of blades. My opinion is they just blunt over time, how can they really stay sharp indefinitely. I  use my TM every day & its just wear & tear.

Is it true that extra blade sets only have a 6 month warranty?!

Can't help with that one! A consultant should know.
