For those of us who can't help but drag our TMs across the counter...

I am an incorrigible dragger, a TM abuser - I can't help myself, I just can't adhere to the "no dragging Thermie across the counter" rule!
Of course, this problem would be solved if my TM had a permanent spot on the benchtop, but that's not going to happen in this house.
Anyway, I came across this tray in K-Mart today and it's the perfect size:
http://www.kmart.com.au/product/bamboo-serving-tray/114458
There is even clearance at the back so that the cord is not cramped, and there is plenty of room for the mixing bowl to sit next to the TM if needed.
So now I can drag to my heart's content and not worry about Thermie abuse!
Plus, it's a really nice tray.
I hope that this post will help others who are just as hopeless as me at sticking to the non-dragging rule.

That looks good dustbunny. I am fine with the dragging but the rest of the family are very bad. Does it have anything underneath to stop it marking the bench?

Nothing underneath, just perfectly flat bamboo. I think you could glue some felt over the whole bottom of the tray to protect your bench tops if you wanted - it would have to be strong glue to last though, I think.

I received my slide a couple of days ago, and I like it. It's not an absolute necessity tho, just helps you slide the TM across the bench where you want it. Have yet to try kneading bread and seeing if it moves, but I would always be vigilant during this stage even if it was fairly stable.

I got one too
Mine moves on it when in normal use, and it moves when kneading. I'm not happy with it and if I knew this, I wouldn't have bothered buying it.

That does look good but I just had a builder friend cut me a piece of shelving to size. I'm good with not dragging but a bit concerned about the other half who can't carry a thought for more than two seconds. I do however take it off the board for kneading bread - I have a very wide bench but still would not trust it - and of course I don't take my eyes off it.

I have had the Thermislide from Alyce Alexander's website for about 10 days.
It is great and quite steady.
It is even steady when kneading dough although I always stay with it when kneading.
I would recommend the slide as it works well and is easy to slide so protects my new bench.
It also looks good.
I highly recommend the thermislide as it protects the scales.
