home made mozzarella
« on: June 15, 2011, 04:13:59 pm »
Has anyone tried making their own mozzarella in thermie?  Am on a cheese making binge and a recipe l have for mozzarella seems convertible to thermie for the most part.

I'd love to know how.

Katesjoy, I don't know if it's worth making mozzarella in the TMX since it would only hold 2 litres of milk.  I make feta and camembert from time to time and use 8 litres of milk as it's quite a lengthy process.  When making mozzarella you would only use the TMX for the milk heating part... But I guess anything is worth a try  ;)  Let us know how you go.  Happy cheese-making :)

Hi, I was successful making mozzarella today.  Here's a link to the recipe.  It makes about 250g. :)  http://thethermomixdiaries.wordpress.com/2014/05/14/save-a-motzah-making-mozzarella/

Thanks, Justine - I'm hoping to try this soon.  I did see the email  and it's good to hear from someone who's already tried it and what the expected yield would be . . :D

I have made mozzarella once before but I think I prefer this method. I hope to give it a go very soon as we love bocconcini.
